If you think like a normal social media influencer account, then you probably think that you need to be reposted by bigger accounts and Steemians in order to be noticed to then grow followers. But is it really about how many followers you have?
If you are looking to provide good content then followers might be more important, as they can be a motivation to keep producing content. You will eventually create your self a bigger influence in terms of how many people reading your stuff.
But if you think about it, is really your influence determined by your followers on STEEM?
On the STEEM platforms we are relying on our STEEM Power. SP determines how much you earn and how much you posts and comments are “Worth”. The more SP you have (or the person upvoting you content), the more influence you have on a post. An account with a high number of SP (like 1000 SP) will have a greater influence on every post he/she upvotes compared to an account with a lower SP (like the standard 15 SP).
This is the reason we have to look at influence differently on STEEM platforms compared to our every day social medias, because we have STEEM Power as a factor as well.
So if you are looking to earn something from your posts on the STEEM platforms, then you need to think about what audience you want. Audiences that have a greater influence on your post will give you a better payout. So in theory, you can have many followers with low influence level that can provide a good earning, but all this can possibly be beaten by one account with the same amount of influence as all of the low influencer accounts.
People will of course have a different view on this subject, but it is interesting to see how people move forward on the platforms.
