We need more exchanges for STEEM

in steem •  9 years ago

Currently we have inside market here - thats great but his doesnt solve an issue.

We have Bittrex as the only exchange (please read up before saying there is OL.

When Bittrex wallet goes down (like last days due to fork), then @blocktrades cannot use OPEN.STEEM on OpenLedger. because what they need to do is buy or sell STEEM on exchange to provide user with deposit or withdrawal in many cases.

So currently we have Bittrex, OL and BlockTrades where you can buy/sell STEEM yet two of them depend on the initial Bittrex.

We should look for at least one more exchange and i would say C-CEX should be doable.
Its a russian exchange which is solid so far and works since long time. Admin never stole any money and it has traffic on many coins.

Poloniex takes really long time to add anything if they dont add it right on launch. So we just have to wait.

We should also consider chinesse *BTER since they were the closest exchange to US ones.

Poloniex is my favorite exchange for BTC and I know they were already talking to Dan and/or Ned. Hopefully they'll have it on quickly.

OpenLedger is a true exchange (and in fact deposits/withdrawals were operational there while Bittrex was still down). OpenLedger doesn't need pricing from Bittrex to operate, it can create as much OPEN.STEEM as it likes, whenever someone deposits a similar amount of STEEM. OPEN.STEEM is an IOU, just like the thing they call STEEM on a centralized exchange (which isn't really STEEM at all, but just an internal accounting ledger backed by stored STEEM). BlockTrades does need exchanges to operate (unless we wanted to set the prices ourselves), because it pulls pricing from them and acts as a direct buyer and seller, not as a "matching service" like an exchange.

tl;dr: OpenLedger and Bittrex are both exchanges for crypto, BlockTrades is a direct buyer/seller of crypto.

Poloniex is solid though, my fav by far. And you get to use Bollinger bands (just throwing that in that so it looks like I know what I'm talking about)

Polo 4 loife.
