I can see that a lot of people around Steemit are going crazy because Steem is over $6 at this moment so just to give you my 2 Satoshis on that. I know, I know we are getting rich by doing what we love and that is just impossible to be happening in this world full of suffering, where you must hate your job to call it a job. And of course, on the other side, there is a doomsday crew calling everything pump & dump scam bubble.
I would like to point just one thing. Don't look at Steem $6, but look at its market cap! At this moment Steem has market Cap of 1.5 Billion. And now just think about what is this platform about and what is planning to become in the years to come. It is a new generation social media platform, and when you are comparing it and thinking about its price, you can just compare it with old generation social media platforms and their price. Steemit is doing everything they do in better, more transparent, fair and profitable way for its small users instead for Mark Zuckerberg.
And then if you believe that in some mid-long term all people will change their habits, overcome that fear of unknown and start using Steemit (and other new generation platforms) instead of Facebook and the old ones, then you just have to ask yourself one question. What is a market cap of Facebook?
It is around 512 Billion!
And we Stemians are on 1.5 Billion :) and we should grow 350% to be at 1% of Facebook value. Now just answer to yourself - Is Steemit worth 1% of Facebook?
Honestly, I would say Steemit is not worth 1% of FB, not yet, we don't have 0.1% of their active users, we have not allocated 0.01 % of the development funding to reach the masses or make moonshots, we don't have 0.001% of their marketing tools, and we don't even have 0.0001% of their advertising financial power...YET
But someday we will have that 1%, and when that day comes Steem we'll be worth 100x more than FaceBroke's 1%:
Why?
Because, Steem is much-much more than a social network
Because Steem is a block-chain that can service multiple media and multiple network
Because Steem is a block-chain that can perform social value discovery without centralized manipulation
Because Steem is a block-chain that can out-transact almost all blockchain that's been battle tested, we can out-convenience the usage and userbase of all the 4 fiat-gateway crypto, and out-currency the top 10 crypto probably 99% of all existing and real-world functioning crypto
Because Steem will become the gateway for any and all media, old and new from print to pictures to video to stream and then someday to gamification and then to virtual & augmented reality, and beyond
Because Steem will be the voice of the people, voted, 1 person at a time, and the soul of living cryto-community and in essence producing through mental mining of the most valueble asset - imagination
And because Steem is the herald that will blow the trumpet to usher in the renaissance of a new era in humanity - where technology and economics co-existence with the decentralized network of humanity's potential
Truly There Is Not Limit To The Human Imagination

There is some truth there, nevertheless I often think fear and destruction are poor utilization of the power of human imagination
I can't see reads with reply only upvotes (unlike post), so thanks for the feedback, good to see someone is reading :D
These days I'm putting up intriguing replies to users with smaller reps (Under 60). I realize insightful replies help bring in more people to view the post, instigate response and help the OP raise new follower - my small attempt to support OP and bringing more value to our beloved blockchain.

You can't just think Facebook anymore steem is not just steemit. There is also dtube, so think about replacing Facebook + YouTube all with the same entity. What would that market cap be? Oh yeah then SMTs are coming so replace all comment sections on every website ever, see ya later discuss, mix all that in too. SoundCloud? Forget it, a steem replacement for that will come too.

LoL... Great point, but we must also count all new generation social media projects that will come to the market and take a part of it, plus it is expected for all these first-generation companies like Facebook to change and adapt, so this way they will keep one part of their users... So let's say 100B in next 2 years would be optimal for Steemit :)

Well you will change your tune (if) when Facebook implements an SMT to monetize their own comment section. ;)

Very informative. Personally, I never liked Facebook. So much hype but for what use? Apart selling your personnel informations, what does it for their members?🤨
Personally I would say it’s totally worth more than FB but on a global note, we are far behind but catching up with giant leaps

Hate to be the party crasher, but steemit is not going to replace facebook any time soon.
If for no other reason (so neglecting switching costs, advertiser influence, better curation and group management, etc etc), facebook's dopamine hacking is much better than steemit's.
Obviously, I'm a steemit supporter, but let's be realistic.

Wow great point of view. I think in coming years, steemit will skyrocket as regular laymen become aware of its potential, and of course it is first to market in the social media crypto space. Its value is far greater than Facebook, just not as well known....YET

I believe; steem will keep growing if Facebook and Youtube continue down the road of censorship. I'm not to sure if steem going to be the next social media giant, but I believe the framework will power future generations social media sites.

It's a valid comparison, but it took Facebook more than a decade to get to $500bn, and Facebook also has over a billion users. Steemit has a shot at that, but there will be MANY needed improvements to get there, and a LOT more onboarding of users. But you're on the right trail, bc Zberg already knows about crypto and Steem, otherwise he wouldn't have printed his New Year's missive indirectly about Steemit, check it out...

We will all have to work together and support each other in order to reach that level, but we can see it happening.
We would all like to believe that this is how social media should be. Let Steemit redefine it.
