Milestone post: 666 followers (and counting) Thanks to everyone!

Just

a little note to say thanks for all my followers, especially the ones who vote for my witness, for bringing me to this most inglorious milestone of the evil number of followers. Of course part of me giggles at this, the bit that made me change my name to Loki.

With the help of a friend I should soon have the issue of a required private RPC Steem node, my witness, and my webserver all on a neat and very well equipped VPS with 50Gb of memory... getting all the ducks in a row has been difficult and I should have done more 'window shopping' and talking to people and reading reviews to find a decent service.

Well, no matter, in a few days my witness will be running full time with no glitches, as well as the needed RPC for my planned web application, and more than enough memory left over for the server to also spit out a few web pages for people, and maybe soon I will be selling anonymised Steem accounts.

BTW, the friend happens to be a fellow witness who has recently almost made it into the top 19, @liondani, YUGE thanks to them for their help (advice, recommendations and now a little loan in advance of my powerdown next sunday)...

Even if you don't vote for my witness here, please consider voting for @liondani. They are definitely worthy of the weighty responsibility of keeping Steem from being taken over by silly people.

Brilliant achievement.. Well done

Thank you for posting @l0k1. Glad to hear all is well.

Always good to hear a recommendation from a quantified source. Appreciate the tip.

Wishing you all the best. Cheers.

I remember when I hit 666 and I kept thinking, I hope I get more followers before my family sees that! LOL

Best of luck on getting your witness node(?) set up and reliable. I need to go in and take a fresh look at who I voted for. Thank you for the reminder.

@l0k1 Congrats! what a number eh?
but someone dropped out -
but it doesn't matter - still a huge number!
Cheers!

Congrats on reaching the number of the beast.
So, there are silly witnesses too 8-)? Any advice on who not to vote for?

Well, since all of them are not in the top 19, the signs are good that they will stay out of any position of responsibility, but they are not far down after that. I don't make snap judgements of people when it comes to performing duties but I've seen enough to say that I don't think about 8 or 9 of them in the backup list are going to keep Steem's momentum going.

The real power and importance of the top 19 has to do with the fact that they can veto a hard fork with 2/3 majority refusing to upgrade. I won't name any names but I will name the backups who I support (and I should be voting for them! tisk! I will fix that):

@klye, @timcliff... definitely good guys and regular chatters in #witness in chat, and doing lots of good work. Why @klye in particular is not already top 19 is sad but hopefully that will change in the near future.

Also, check this page: https://steemd.com/witnesses and if you are voting for a witness that is greyed out, that is literally a wasted vote because they literally aren't running a witness server.

Thanks. After the hardfork #20 will also be a full witness? Anyway, I don't know many of these witnesses, there's only one I would never vote for because of personal dislike, in fact, I would rather be buggered with a fishfork than vote for him. The rest, well, I need to study more, I suppose. I still have some votes left to give.
