So I Just Divested Bitcoin Into PeerPlays. Let's Talk About It.

So I've been talking a bit with Jonathan Baha'i and it sounds like PP is launching with, well, nothing to play. Maybe rock paper scissors which I think is pretty stupid and not exciting whatsoever.

He's saying they're prioritizing sports betting FIRST, which if you look at their roadmap, is slated for like Q2 NEXT year, then they're going to focus on lottery style scratch offs after the sports betting, both IMO are boring and makes me considerably LESS stoked on this project. I just hope that someone writes some provably fair casino games for people to play with each other that don't care about sitting on their hands and betting on sports or digital lottery tickets.

Wow that is rather unimpressive. ..

It has been done a million times before but you HAVE to make a basic dice game. 10's of millions USD are wagered every week with dice. People love it and it needs to be an option for users.

Seriously, my thoughts exactly. Super easy to develop, and people are into it. It gives them something to play with while more things are being worked on. I just feel like if there's nothing to bring to the table at launch, people are going to be like "This is it? Well, this sucks." and eventually forget about it. They have millions upon millions in funding, surely to god they can implement some small toy for people to gamble with at launch . . . If there's nothing really, I'm most likely going to sell, recoup my money, and buy once everyone is done trash talking to to death for bringing nothing to the table. But hopefully we don't know everything just yet and there will be at least 1 or 2 small-time DAPPs to mess with.

It is going to be interesting to watch. With the game development plans you mentioned it sounds like they may have got funded way more than they expected and didn't think that far ahead yet...

They've been funded around 7 or 8 million USD at least so far. To launch with nothing to gamble with and having that much funding, it worries me. I understand that things take time, but there are things out there that should be very easy to implement as proof of concept AT LEAST. If the rock paper scissors in the test wallet is any indication, I'm going to be severely disappointed, because me and several friends cannot get it to work in any browser.

I just hope that they're not saying anything and they launch with something, keeping my fingers crossed!

I wonder who came up with the idea to launch with that game first. Not very popular from what I have seen over the years...

Well, it's really easy to program. You can code that game in no time. I've even programmed it before in Java in a couple hours, which was when I was LEARNING it. Of course there's more to it than that though.

Plus yeah, RPS is just boring, especially when you can't even play it :-/. I'm not trying to sound like a downer, but I was under some different impressions about the launch.
