Flash post from Steem bluepaper - What is valuable content?

in steem •  7 years ago

After reading their winter update, I wanted to read the Steem bluepaper and whitepaper because I was curious of the changes and directions that we are heading to.

I found there under the topic:

Rewards for Content Creators and Curators

The exact definition of what Steemit Inc. finds as being valuable content:

The users who produce content are adding value to the network by creating material that will drive new users to the platform, as well as keep the existing users engaged and entertained.

This is to me very clear, valuable content, or content that is adding value to the network is meeting one of those or both criteria:

  1. It is material that will drive new users to the platform.

  2. It is material that will keep the existing users engaged and entertained.

Only in these two cases content is considered valuable. It does not matter that your content is triggering people to rage or fight, it is good that it keeps people entertained. Now I understand @Ned's words better on one of the flag war posts:

The flag war is okay if you ask people from Steemit Inc. because it generates traffic and keeps the users engaged and even absorbing people (for example @haejin supporters who make accounts to flag @berniesanders). I thought and at first I wanted to condemn them from giving this definition to valuable content, but thinking better, it is okay, actually this is the definition for valuable content, especially if you are part of Steemit Inc. More details in the bluepaper.

Enjoy!

Views don't mean much when you can buy it. It's fairly cheap. https://www.google.com/search?q=buy+views&oq=buy+views

I wasn't even aware of the fact that people can buy views. Anyway, I just wanted to point out this thing that I found and interpreted somehow from the bluepaper, because people can argue with me that it is just a bad interpretation. Thank you for the information!

Hahaha I laughed at this. At the same time it's sad. Who knew valuable content can be defined as such.

Is the blue/white paper even going to matter with the hardfork coming up?

It will be changed to match the hard-fork, right now it reflects what we already have :)
