Hi everyone!
It is a really beautiful Friday night here in Greece and as I just came back from the sea I didn't feel like posting anything tonight. But there are a few sites that are always running on my pc. One of them is steemworld.org (you can thank @steemchiller for that) which is by far the most complete and useful site, in order to see yours, but also any user's activity.
So what...?
The thing is that the last few days I had decided to stop self voting. Not that my vote has any significant weight... but it seemed like a good idea and there are so many steemians out there who prefer not to self vote at all. So I said to myself: why not? Let's give it a shot. And this is the result!
According to steemworld.org I have zero self votes and also spread 224 votes on 63 different accounts the last seven days. Not bad huh? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against those who self vote. In fact I was doing the exact same thing over the past nine months or so. Every single post...
I know that I could add a few more cents on my payouts but who cares? Certainly not me...Besides as I just said my vote worth just a few cents especially with current steem's price, but knowing that I also helped 63 accounts grow a little bit more makes me feel great!
To be absolutely honest with you I've never been a whale before nor I ever had a super high delegation to know how it feels to click the upvote button and instantly add 10 or 20$ to a post (I would probably reconsider all the self voting thing) but I can assure you that it also feels great to add value to others.
I don't pretend to be a saint or that I'll never vote for myself again but for now I am ok with it. There are certainly users with way better stats than mine, so I am really looking forward for your comments!
What about you? Have you checked your stats? Do you add value to others? Feel free to share your thoughts and even screenshots from steemword.org!
Stay awesome!
Cheers @mindtrap
My vote doesn't count for much so its really pointless i selfvote. I mucj rather use it to vote up cool commebts and posts i find that i like. Might not make much difference to big accounts, but im sure small account like mine appreciate the dust!

Good to know. By upvoting others' posts and comments you show that you appreciate the effort someone put in to that

Like most things in life, it's about finding a balance and understanding why you're doing what you're doing.
Self voting is not the issue. The real question is, do you want to use your Steem power to make the reward pool, which belongs to everyone, payout rewards for that post. Even if it is your own.
Or the other question I ask is, if someone else had written this, would I have voted for it?

I hardly vote myself but I don't feel anything is wrong with self voting in itself. People who hold their SP have the right to use it how they wish.
For the sake of community though it should not be abused, and should instead be made to benefit the whole community and encourage others

Curation rewards should be more important for the sake of the whole community IMO. I am trying to upvote good content but also supporting my followers and searching new ones...
I don’t see anything wrong in self voting your own posts...perhaps self voting on your own comments is a little too much, thought.

Curation rewards will be higher with the upcoming fork. And of course there is nothing wrong in voting your own posts. Your stake is your stake...and you may use it the way it pleases you. It is also an experiment for me. But to be honest I kinda like it...for now. As for upvoting your own comments, is indeed too much imho too!
Thanks for stopping by @toofasteddie!

Well I do self vote. But only on posts never on comments. But I also did hand out 220 upvote to 99 other accounts!
Every bit helps.
Is it selfish? Yes and no. The stronger my account becomes the stronger upvotes I can give away!

Only a lunatic would say that it is selfish...220 upvotes on 99 accounts, you definitely help others grow my friend!

i think everything is important but due to the situation it can change. what i mean by this is that if your votes worth some cents or even a few $$ for me it's ok to self vote as you basically say to yourself my post deserve them i took to write it.
That ofc varies too cause you have to use at least some logic, you can't make a post saying "i am awesome" and then upvote it with 10$ upvote.
On the other hand curation is extremely important cause you help you members. To balance it if you have a bit of sp and let's say your vote worth 1$ vote yourself with 20-30-50% of vp and use the remaining one for extra curation.

Bottom line is that anyone can use their stake as they wish I think...we all agree on that

yes pretty much! Though if you have tons of sp and only vote yourself is greedy! :P

I totally self-vote. I am not making any money here anyway.

I would totally understand that if your vote had a significant weight...but now?
I am sure that if you show your appreciation to others by voting and commenting eventually you 'll make money...
