Is @spaminator driving away loyal users from the Steem blockchain?

in steem •  6 years ago

To my shock earlier today, I found a downvote next to my recent Actifit post. Considering some people who post Actifit posts each day, I didn't think posting one Actifit post in the past week constitutes Spam. And so I browsed through replies to @spaminator and found numerous people had the same issue. Getting flags for no reason, and many of these people reputable people on Steem.

My question is: Is @spaminator doing more harm than good?

The feeling of receiving a flag for no reason is arguably 10 times worse than receiving an upvote. And this kind of behavior is what drives people away from Steem, even loyal users.

At the minimum, I believe there should be a comment left when posts are flagged, so that people can dispute the flags.

If we all want the Steem blockchain to prosper, then we need a better way to manage spam. In my opinion, the RC credit system goes a long way to controlling spam, and @spaminator is only driving loyal users away from our blockchain.

What do you think?

Greetings @nextgen622,

Thank you for highlighting a problem that seems to be at least part of the reason some of these Dapps are not able to take off.....thinking of Zappl and Steepshot.....

Hope you are well.

Wishing you and yours all the best.

Cheers!

Hi @bleujay, good to hear from you my friend. I’m well, currently on vacation in China. Hope you are well too. You make a good point, posts on these short form type of apps seem to get flaggd a lot, even though often short form content is valuable too. We need to have a way to reward all types of content.

Good day mate, yes @spaminator is killing the Steem blockchain.

That's shameful. To be honest I have not been very happy with the direction I see the blogging part of the chain taking myself. And I'm not sure any other part of worth holding Steem.

But at this point, I suppose we little fish ought to at least stop supporting those who are not supporting us. I see the @adm account is defending this one, is this part of @steemcleaners ?

Yeah I think it is part of @steemcleaners. I agree, there’s a lot that needs to be improved on the blogging front, 50/50 curation and author split would be good and improving blogging features. But despite this, I think there’s a lot of potential for Steem. I just bought a lot more Steem because I believe in the potential of Steem, with apps like @steemmonsters and Steem-engine, hopefully more dapps will follow down their path.

I'll admit I haven't looked very close at the numerous apps being developed. mainly because I see the vote selling really making new whales that may not have the future of Steem in mind. Basicly if everyone is simply ussing it to gain more Bitcoin, those not onboard or unaware of the "plan" will become bagholders :)

I did look and see who was delegating to @spaminator and removed any witness support I had for them..

@arhag
@burnpost
@carsonroscoe
@commstech
@investfourmore
@juicy-shark
@lukestokes.mhth
@misterdelegation
@steemlegion
@timcliff

We gotta start somewhere.....

Thank you @majes.....appreciate this list

Hope you are well.

All the best.

Cheers!

Doing well my friend :)

Thanks for your continued support !!

Yes, I need to revisit my witness votes too. Thanks for the list. Btw, hope you are well brother.

Doing well my friend, still ticking along :)

Which discord server are you on BTW ?

Good to hear. I'm on a few. Which ones are you on?

Ah, I found ya, should have looked before I asked lol... Sent a friend request, pretty much leave discord connected so can reach me there if needed :)

Yup, I have been on steem for several years and have helped built it up and promote it everywhere. But these past few weeks @spaminator has been downvoting every post I do without any reason and will not respond to my concerns. They are literally ruining steem.

How to kill the Steem blockchain.

My question is: Is @spaminator doing more harm than good?
@nextgen62

Yes. @nextgen62
I’ve had all posts & comments flagged for the past two weeks.
• I have stopped encouraging people to join the #Steem blockchain, even though I have accounts to give away.
• Any little network effect has been extinguished.
• Why will anyone post anything which may be blanked out?

Wake up. @ned @andrachy
@spaminator is killing DApps. Your SMT project is likely to be DOA.
Pilate this, at the cost of Steemit Inc.

BadContent has already driven out the good.

That’s incredibly sad! Something’s gotta change. @spaminator needs to be more accountable, or else more people are going to be leaving Steem.

More than that, @nexthgen622 it rubbishes the efforts of dedicated, sincere people attempting to grow the community like @nathanmars7 & @stephenkendal

Have their posts been flagged by @spaminator too?

Posted using Partiko iOS

Not checked.
I don’t think 🤔 so.
The flag appears on the sixth day. So, to be sure, we need to check the 7th or 8th day of the post.

Nathan & Stephen are running excellent Twitter initiatives.

Have not noticed this yet I will keep an eye out for it. And it is no good having this going here down voting posts that are not spam :(

You're right. Soon there will be no people left. He lowers me too.

By the way, he also omits the comments.

@logic @pjau @guiltyparties

I think you are necessary in this article.
