Why do through all these process if i can easily create a free account using steemit.com and wait for a few days for approval...

The point is that every user is entitled to only one free Steemit account, so creating another free one is against the Steemit rule. And besides it's not everybody that is patient enough to wait for weeks before getting started in this wonderful platform.
