in this thread:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/3-month-retrospective
Ok, here are my complaints (again) & some may be duplicates of what others have already written, so I apologize in advance if that's the case...
1 I'm not a geek, although I used to think I was a semi geek, but after being on here, I can see I'm not LOL
The geek speak or crypto speak on here is VERY confusing to me & I know to others too.
2 In my attempts to give Steemit users, a few months ago when people in a FB group were leaving in DROVES due to FB's censorship, I gave out the steemit URL & out of probably 200-400 people (yes I worked really hard for about a week), not ONE person joined up.
How do I know this?
Because I didn't get one NEW follower.
Many kept saying they wanted something free which means they thought they had to PAY to join.
I eventually got a better link from the PAL Discord server to hand out, but by that time it was too late AND MeWe got all of your users.
I get that you are finally admitting that Steemit isn't your typical SM platform, so are you also saying you really only want geeks & crypto people?
3 It's not just me, others are pissed that we can't post, comment or upvote after posting/commenting or upvoting maybe 2-3 times when we log in.
I've had this issue non stop since I started with Steemit & NO, I'm not paying money to get more steem.
Supposedly before I came along the amount of time you could do these things was a lot longer & then you shortened it.
It took me a whole YEAR before I even got my account on Steemit.
I signed up, didn't know that it did NOT go through, & thought it worked. You didn't even send me an e-mail saying it didn't go thru, or there was no error message on my browser when I tried to join.
When I had the time to log in, I realized I wasn't a member or I thought I was, but couldn't figure out how to log in.
I tried again, I figured out fairly quickly that I wasn't a member, then tried again.
It didn't work again & then I started trying to find help.
I finally got some help in a FB group by telling me WHERE to go (the URL) to get help.
You don't even have the help section listed anywhere that we can see it.
Someone finally got me signed up under him, but not after a lot of trouble.
It should NOT be this difficult to sign up to a bloody site.
I get you don't want scammers, but seriously.
4 I know there's other ways to log into Steemit so you can get a text editor, but seriously guys, you NEED a proper TEXT EDITOR.
One like the one on WordPress where we can bullet number (WITH a period after the number), bold, italicize, increase the font size, use h1, h2, indent, add media, etc.
While I do NOT feel we should be forced into learning html, at least if you allowed html it would be better than the CRAP markdown you allow now which gives us almost NO way to design our posts properly & takes way more time.
These good text editors are open source online. Why couldn't you have just added one in?
Even the one from Steem Plus (I think it is) isn't a great text editor.
This & many other issues have caused users to leave Steemit b/c it's NOT user friendly at all, & just makes life difficult.
I seriously felt like being on here was like living in the 1970's, & there wasn't even the NET back then.
5 I should be able to get e-mail notifications when someone has responded to my post, so I can come log in & address it.
I know people here LIVE on Steemit, but I don't & shouldn't have to.
It's a feature one should be able to turn off & on.
6 Your emoji feature never worked.
I'm not an emoji fanatic, but I do like to put smileys, frowns & angries into my text when I'm writing.
We need that online so people get what we are trying to say.
7 Help - there is NO help at all for most people on here.
If it weren't for one person who took pity on me when I first joined & then she introduced me to Dave who is such a KIND person, I would have been furious & left ages ago.
He also gets upset with Steemit, but thru Discord he has helped me & even found someone to delegate me once or twice when I was held hostage & couldn't do anything on the site.
And considering I don't come on here every day, to then COME onto the site & not be able to do anything after 1-2 actions is ridiculous.
People don't want stress in their lives. We already have too much of it already.
The site should be way more user friendly, & when there's a problem, people should know who to turn to.
And they should know that Discord (and which channels) is associated with Steemit b/c I'm sure most lay people don't.
8 I know you mentioned you will be implementing groups, so that's a good thing.
We should be able to find groups (by searching) based on topics/kws & of course create our own EASILY just like on FB or MeWe.
9 Tags - no one seems to know how we can get MORE tags added to the tag page.
10 A better way to get followers.
I used to get followers, but then it just stopped.
I haven't had a follower in probably close to a year.
And I find that the ONLY types of post that make tons of money are the crypto ones.
Well, I'm not into crypto, so if this site really is ALL about crypto & little else, then it's not the place for me.
I think the site should be upfront about it.
11 Way to stop whales from downvoting people.
I've only had it happen to me once, but to allow these people soooo much power that they can ruin a person on your site is TERRIBLE.
From what I've heard, they get pissed off at someone (whether it's valid or not isn't the point) & they go after & attack the person.
If this is allowed to happen where people can bully & gang up on people here, then it's NOT a safe place.
I get that people will get into arguments, but I once read a thread that went on & on & on with these 2 people having fights & the whales were downvoting him (or whatever it's called.)
I'm sure I had more issues, but they were written up in other threads months & even a year ago & I would never be able to find them.
Thank you for listening, I hope someone actually cares enough about what I wrote.
My forte is the user-friendliness of sites/applications, GUI, ideas, how to improve something, etc.
When I first started I was willing to help you guys for free, but that was ages ago when I still had high hopes for the site.
I actually left at one point because I was sooo pissed off about something (I probably got locked again from doing things) & then eventually I returned.
Have a great wknd.
My experience was similar (worse...). I tried to get people join steemSTEM. Write a scientific post, earn 1-3 day salary!? You know how many poor students joined - zero.
