Steem has over 300 applications that use the blockchain. I know, that's a lot, but don't worry I won't go into them all! Just 2 today actually. Steemengine and Steemfollower. Via these sites you can connect to the steem blockchain, and go and upvote posts. Ok, nothing new there. But, here comes the interesting part!
You get other upvotes in return from other people on your posts, because your posts are listed there when you upvote others. So, now you not only get curation from your upvotes, but also other upvotes on your posts.
I know, it sounds complicated, but it really isn't. Just check it for yourself.

Other advantages!
You gain lots of followers, people get points on steemfollower for giving upvotes and for following other people. And of course if your blog has good content, you get more followers. I have gained more than 500 followers through these two sites alone in the last month. So, it is worth it. Really!
Second the points on Steemfollower, these are worth SBD's and you can sell them on the internal market there, or use them to boost a post. Anyway, you get return from it.

Honestly, I have no clue, the points on Steemfollower are sweet, and can make you lots of extra SBD.
But on Steemengine I notice a lot of extra following when you upvote there.
So conclusion, both are good and a real boost for your account.
