Weekly report: How much STEEM is stored on the exchanges? - July 5, 2018

in steem •  7 years ago

The charts below show how much STEEM is stored on each exchange where STEEM is listed.

Binance has their Steem wallet disabled since the halt of the Steem blockchain 2 days ago. It seems some people tried to deposit STEEM on Binance nevertheless. Hopefully Binance will process these deposits as soon as they enable their Steem wallet.

Deposits and withdrawals on Bithumb are still disabled as well.

Rule #1 in the crypto world: Don't store your cryptocurrencies on an exchange!

Great information!

I think it would be helpful for visualization if all of the y-axes were extended to start at 0 STEEM. For example, the change in STEEM on Poloniex would look much less drastic.

So does these numbers show how much steem the exchange(s) have to sell, or how much steem users have on those exchange(s)?

The latter, right? Do exchanges hold any of their own "steem" or is it all user accounts, buying and selling to each other?

The latter indeed. The Steem is not their own, but owned by their users who can buy and sell to each other.

50 M Steem !!! That is about one fifth of circulating supply ! If only it could come back on Steemit !

So wait, BitHumb have 0 Steem on their account but yesterday they did $7 million volume of trading STEEM.

I presume they must have another account?

This is their wallet: https://steemblockexplorer.com/@bithumb.hot. I don't know if they are using another wallet, but their trading volume would be indeed suspicious if they have no other wallet.

As far as I know deposits and withdrawals are still disabled. Otherwise it would be a great arbitrage opportunity. Steem is being traded at a much higher price on Bithumb.

After that Bithumb hack issue, I noticed that the bulk of the funds were switched over to @deepcrypto8. (Binance). Looks like they are using binance wallet.

Great update. @penguinpablo

This is very good information. It is good to have this much steem on exchanges. It suggests that steem price discovery is supported by good amount of liquidity

Thank you for letting us updated with the market

Las day it go up 20% ... and then come fast town .

Thank you~ good inform.

Do you happen to know if Steemit Inc has reached out to Binance to support the frozen STEEM wallet issue? We can't afford to have another exchange with wallets stuck forever like Poloniex and HitBTC.

I don't know, but I expect Binance will fix this soon.

This is actually pretty sad when you think about it. Everybody is just trying to sell off their steem and hence the inflation/crash in price
