hey @pharesim, do you know how exactly one calculates the bandwidth remaining? I'm not seeing it from the data in the get_accounts object. is there another object I need to request, or am I just totally missing it?

I figured it out, just as an fyi, the additional data you need is in get_dynamic_global_properties, and the formula is:

has_bandwidth = ( account_vshares * max_virtual_bandwidth ) > ( account_average_bandwidth * total_vshares );

Because there's no fees on steem, everyone gets the right to a certain share of the possible total transactions. The current algorithm limiting access is too strict, the update will solve that.

Hahaha, I described VP to a colleague as mana the other day. Then explained how it recharges over time. He asked if there wa sa ring of regeneration to make it regen faster.

Steemit told me I was low on bandwidth, and I couldn't even edit my own post...so I made a random comment on someone else's post....and my low bandwidth problem went away immediately.

Definitely a nice feature to have @pharesim. A little confused by the way the bandwidth seems to jump all over the place... one moment I have 27mb remaining, six minutes later I have 1.4gb and another 10 minutes and its 204mb... and on and on. But it's nice to have it there!

I just stopped by to thank you for the upvote this evening. Also thank you for the above link. @whatsup posted two steemit resource links in her article tonight and now I have the above one.

I have begun to copy an paste these in a document for future resources, and I hope to create a post for other mew users such as myself. I am sure this has been done before, but I have noticed a lot of interaction and comments on my postings from new users. I feel that if this is done over, and over again by mew users it will keep getting the information out there - opposed to a static FAQ Link.

So it's because of the number of new users and spam ...? Whether the steemit bandwidth is small and still updated master @pharesim
But from my experience the bandwidth dismis it happened at the time of our post or comment from 1 reaching thousands, from 1 thousand reach about 2 thousands, at that moment happened dismis bandwidth, master, I have 2 times feel this.
