Unlike a lot of other coins.. The growth of Steem has been steady and gradual. No inexplicable jumps, and no real falls too. At least not in the recent past. That and the fact that the platform 'steemit' is there to use, gives it a sense of tangibility. Unlike a lot of other coins, which you can read about and try to understand as much as you may like, but are not in operation yet or getting utilised so far.
