Everybody here think steemit and the blockchain phenomenon is a return to the early internet?

There's a massive sense of freedom coming with all the new blockchain 'innovation' at the minute, as if there was a wave of reappropriation of the internet by the people - now that it has been fully sold out to corporations...

Steemit feels a lot like this. Confused but rich, chaotic but promising, diverse and incoherent at times... but also something more akin to sharing and growing than to 'show off' (looking at you facebook).

There's a real sense of possibilities, which is really exciting... Heaps to improve on, but at least not some kind of 'facebook' to show off.
