Has anyone ever heard of this young entrepreneur, Andres Kello?
He's the guy trying to break the world record for the most expensive domain name of all time.
The price tag? How about 12 million plus a dollar. Of the proceeds, at least $4,000,001.00 will be donated to charity. Another $4 million is expected to be donated to its supporters.
The official record is held by Business.com with $7.5 million.
The unofficial record is $12 million and would be awarded to Sex.com. Imagine that!
Mr. Kello thinks the sale of his domain name is a pittance compared to the fees paid by some major companies for 30- and 60-second ads during Sunday's Super Bowl. He thinks the media will be inundated with stories as soon as the sale is completed. Everyone will be logging on to see what this site has to offer and who finally decided to risk those kinds of advertising dollars.
Maybe he's right. Now I'm curious and maybe also a little jealous that I didn't come up with such a great idea. I like the charity factor he built into this project, although I think with that kind of money, he should at least donate half of the proceeds. Either way, it's a great gift and I'm sure many people will benefit from it. Mr. Kello also says that he will not give up and leave with his small fortune, but will continue to come up with bigger and better ideas to surpass this project.
I hope this project will really see the light of day. Maybe this idea will light the rockets in all of our brains to push more thoughts to new heights and make this world a better, safer and more peaceful environment for our generation and the one that will exist in many years!
