I joined a while ago and your second point makes me wonder. On most of the other social media platforms, the control of the "drama" people seems to be ever-increasing.

Did Steem do something, or was it the community on the whole which decided not to reward that kind of behavior ultimately discouraging it?

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam

    It was largely to the Hive fork. Many of these users powered down and left.
