From the bottom of my heart, I must say this is the best initiative ever. It breaks my heart when I see food get wasted while others have little or nothing to eat.
I attended a function over the weekend and was pained that while some people were picking at their food, one particular lady who was a gatecrasher wanted some food but was turned down.
It really got me thinking why anyone would refuse someone a plate of food just because he/she is of a lower class. But then, what do I know. More kudos to you for this nice initiative. Acts like this makes me believe that humanity isn't doomed.

There is so much waste of good food. Where millions of people do not even get a piece of bread daily on the other side some people absolutely have no value for the amount of food they get.
Retailers hoard and consumers with heavy pockets don't value :-(
I feel in your country may be there is an excess supply, Have you thought of sending this to countries where there is so much lack of food and basic necessities.

Knowledge will erase all starvation in the coming years... The lack thereof is the reason why people are starving as is, not lack of resources. The change will come from the people not from the extremely centralized system we currently live in. It will be truly amazing to be apart of this transition into a new far more decentralized paradigm, a new golden age of humanity! :)

This is really something else, man.. I used to work at a Sam's Club so I know it happens... Good lord! and there's people starving out there... America's priorities are jacked up, all the waste is a symptom of our consumerism.. I don't know but this is definitely good karma... What an adventure, thanks for letting us know whats possible :)

I am working in the food industry , day by day we throw so many food away just because 1 tomato in a 500g bag is bad .. this makes me so sad :/ but will we don t throw it all away , for legal reasons we can t donate meat and fish but the rest we spend to poor people :)

I have met a couple of backpackers who solely live on hitchhiking and dumpster diving.
Is it really dumpster, it all loks quite fresh and good. To be honest, I kinda want to eat a lot out of it.
I think there should be better system in place to declare any food as expired than the marked expiry date.

I saw one time at Discovery Channel a pig farmer who was collecting all the food that remained from restaurants and boiled it and feed it to his pigs.
He was even finding bread with caviar, fresh vegetables and a lot of fruit plus milk a lot of milk.
His pigs were healthy and fat !

Ah! That is very similar to what we used to do. Some friends used to have dumpster diving parties where they’d invite students to dumpster dive with them and then eat everything together with the neighbors and invite all the local homeless. Eventually people started getting arrested for it and the project was shut down....
As long as you can do it safely keep doing it! Find more people to join you! Turn it into a party!
