Visit https://www.SolidMetal.shop - Fully Integrated STEEM&SBD shopping for precious metals, collectibles and jewelry! We also take bitcoin, lite, eth, btc cash and more!

There's a new way to shop in town, and it means using STEEM & SBD at more places!

@SolidShops is a collection of online stores created by @SirCork of @NobleWitness, with the help of some Steemians who are employees of the shops, and we're opening up with cool and high quality goods focused on taking crypto directly as payment across at least half a dozen different kinds of stores to start out with, and we were born on STEEM, baby!

@SirCork managed to completely integrate a custom steem/sbd based checkout solution into the world famous Shopify.com storefront hosting platform. This means he can enable any shopify store to spring to life as a STEEM/SBD store now, with just a dash of the secret ingredients he coded up in his lab.

Have a look, let the pictures tell the story!

The first shop is SolidMetal.shop

PAY WITH STEEM OR SBD (OR MANY OTHER WAYS)

Yes, even at checkout!

Uses Steem Connect to finalize the purchase

SteemConnect Checkout Closeup

This is not the first steem shopping integration. There are certainly others, and we need more of us. We're just the latest to join the fray, with a precious metals, collectibles, and jewelry shop, the first of many cool shops to be released between now and the end of 2018. The metals shop is the most complex to administer so it's the shop prototype from which the other shops will be based. Think of future shops including, of course metals but also shops with more and finer jewelry, music gear, gaming gear, and many other cool product lines and offerings from us, with products hand curated by our staff.

We realize purchasing online raises concerns. We offer the same security as major online retailers, and we are in discussions with our devs about using the little known but chain established Steem Blockchain escrow function during checkout through shipping in some fashion.

@SolidShops is a trustworthy project and already employing one other remote steemian full-time as a Shop Designer and an Inventory Manager for the shops, so we can get them loaded up and running fast, with plans to hire a couple more pros in some other spots in the organization as things progress. Service will always be top of our priority, alongside quality products, and easy cryptocurrency fueled shopping. As it stands today, if you have any questions about our intentions or integrity, contact @SirCork for information.

We even already accept a few other top cryptos like bitcoin, lite, and eth, as well as most cards and online payment methods. We regret that we cannot ship bullion metals outside the domestic United States at this time. We can however, send you our collectibles, or jewelry, anywhere in the world. We also have MANY more domain names purchased and shops coming soon and most of those will also be globally accessible. Governments get kinda funny about gold and stuff though, you know how it is. Maybe a blockchain or something can fix that someday?

What are you waiting for? Visit https://SolidMetal.shop to find hundreds of awesome things you can actually buy right now with steem or sbd!

edit: I don't always talk in the 3rd person, but when I do, it's when I've posted an article created for @solidshops on the @sircork account. Woot! First post! Sorta! Oh. Well. Nevermind.

Good job, this is bringing real utility to the Steem token

Thank you

damn bro nice i like seeing this shop cuz steem connecrt ios so nice to use, who integrated the srteem connect toii rthe site? I want that skill i wannabe makin so many websites that charge money over steem, maybe for somethin like gambling or hm Gift cards or like tiops

i honestly think a Patreon type system is anotehr great way to just ask for money and use steem to do it, i cant believe patreon supporters even give money but they do... and i know we have roelandp 's solicitingpower with porojects like @surfyogi 's @wafrica up there as an exampel of projects you can delegate steempower to but, its not exactly like patreon and i REALLY wana make a patreon clone using steem connect

anyway good job

Thank you, I did all the coding.

Brilliant I have been talking about something like this for ages but you actually did it -Well done !

Yep, thanks!

We need more stuffs :D how does one recruit and have you thought of offering stemians the possibility of using the platform to sell art and crafts ?

Recruiting - well um, I dunno it has just been part of my career for decades. As for the arts and crafts, no probably not on my stores, though I do have a domain coming for jewelry crafter supplies. You are looking for the @dstors guys :) They got what you need.

oh i see they do that already lol II am sooo out of the loop :P

kk just thought you could also make a site with your model and sort of rent it out to people you know a sort of etsy model ... and i will check dstores :)

it's grrrrrreat! <3

Holy cow....Awesome !! But better hide this from my wife. Xmas and jewelry coming up and she will be blowing the Steem up for some of those earrings :)

Send her right over :D

Wow that's a great start

Thank you!

Will the Silver "STEEM" bars be available for sale as well ?

AFAIK those are privately minted, but I'd love to get my hands on some to sell, and may end up minting some myself.

Awesome, especially being able to pay in Steem or SBD. Out of interest - how did you activate that payment system in the ecommerce store you are using? I use the same one for a number of online stores and I can't see that as an option, getting more stores world wide to accept Steem as a payment can only help promote it.

I had to spend about 10 solid very long days of trial and error programming a hand rolled custom theme and integration into the checkout and front end scripts and page hooks. It was not at all easy. But the end solution is not actually complex, it just is constrained by a centralized cart management system's quirks.

Right, you made it work yourself! I mod themes to my own purpose, liquid is not too bad to figure out but this is something way more conplicated. Now all you have to do is package that work into an app and put it on the App Store for a monthly subscription fee 😉

Oh my, "Shopping using crypto" instead of "shopping for crypto" darn, can't unlearn what I just learned when these three words appear in this order and the same sentence.

it's too bad this is only for US. i would love to try it out through a third party delivery (personally i like the silver plated playing cards!). but shipping gold/silver into korea would be illegal here 😥

That's part of the reason we are usa limited. That said, the "gift" items that are not generally the bullion pieces, I can ship pretty much anywhere, but I'd have to confirm the rates. The playing cards are "silver" or "gold" as they are advertised, but it's an incredibly thin foil layer. It would probably be fine, and you can probably find them now that you know they exist via other sources. The advantage I have is not a super low price, but in taking crypto at not too much of a premium. :)

yes and also i'd love to see more goods, not just metals 😁

Then stick around and give us a moment to take care of building business :D

Here is a sneak preview of my currently registered domains and planned site list:

SolidMetal.shop - bullion, jewelry
SolidRock.shop - gemstones, jewelry making supplies, minerals and rocks - the whole crystal crowd things
SolidMusic.shop - music equipment
SolidGear.shop - outdoors and camping, survival, preppers
SolidGaming.shop - cards, darts, adult casino and non-digital games stuff like chess, board games, puzzle toys, stuff like that
SolidGames.shop - points to gaming ^
SolidGame.shop - also points to gaming ^ - not sure which of the three Ill use as the "main one" - probably "solidgames" - the others will just be there for misspelled searches
SolidPoker.shop - poker chips, cards, card mats and card tables, card protectors, other casino related merchandise

I may combine poker with the gaming sites, I just wanted to secure all those names and I want to sell things I enjoy.

oh shit. awesome stuff! can't wait to see 👍

I have one full time steemian employee and myself. @Yusaymon became employee #1 as of Monday morning this week. We're working on the new sites!

Wow. Right when i was thinking about buying some metals.
Good timing :)

I loooove this 😜👍 we need more of this and I will go visit it and se what's there.
Thank you for sharing... Wohooo!
Love the metals... 🤗

More items will be added, and more kinds of stores are already being built. My first full time employee, an inventory manager starts next Monday, so it will go quicker then. :)

I will keep looking and checking back 😉👍 exciting. Thank you for doing this and the payment is so much easier like this.
Have a wonderful weekend. Cheers! 🍻🤗❤️

Governments get kinda funny about gold and stuff though, you know how it is. Maybe a blockchain or something can fix that someday?

If it's 999 or 9999 pure silver or gold, it's not taxable (no customs fees) in most countries, including Canada, USA, UK. So there shouldn't be any shipping trouble, just make sure you insure the package, with a tracking number, and have a discreet packaging for the prying eyes.

More or less, but this is not the kind of thing you throw into an envelope and send to say, Venezuela. Also over certain amounts, 10K, I believe, you have to file IRS forms here. Further, for most items I sell, unless you are gonna spend 10 big, you're better off not paying shipping from the usa, and sourcing closer.

It's ambiguous if you go through airports though. Government minted coins, such as the silver eagle with a face value of 1 dollar, have technically a legal tender of 1 dollar. You can buy stuff with it worth 1 dollar. So in theory you should be able to carry 10,000 units of them. However, as a precious metal, they have a value of $145,000 (by the recent spot prices). So it's up to the customs agents and their level of ignorance (like what is silver) whether they want to consider the spot price or the face value, and whether they want to annoy you or not. I haven't found a definitive answer for this dilemma.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

And by this dilemma you mean the frequency with which you transport one hundred and fifty thousand dollars worth of junk silver coins across international borders in your carry on?

The dilemma is the technicalities of the issue, face value vs metal value. And please don't insult my silver, mine is no junk 🤑

lol, nice

I wish that was the case here... If I am expecting a package I get a letter and need to pay a amount everytime it's outside of Europe... But it hasn't kept me from it anyway 😉👍

Did someone say precious metals? This is awesome.

It will get more awesome, this post actually was supposed to be scheduled AND on the @SolidShops account to come out next week pre-black friday and have a contest in it. I fucked ALL that up by accidentally composing while logged in as sircork, and hitting post out of habit - my style is furious fast typing, bang out 600 words in 60 seconds, post, then edit :D My bad. So expect more inventory coming in metals collections and price to gradually stabilize as I learn about the costs of exchanges and such on the various cryptos, im a tiny bit padded right now, and all things are subject to tweak.

I think it's a good project. The website is very sleek and responsive. Not a lot of merchandise yet, but I'm sure it'll fill up. Good luck.

Thanks - This is the first shop. I hired a steemian full time to start loading inventory faster and to help me get the other shops online, to include all sorts of other interesting shopping niches. I could literally produce them endlessly now. :D

All taking STEEM AND SBD direct BABY!

There are certainly others, and we need more of us

I like the fact that you understand quite well the aim of blockchain tech. I really wish we could have something like this in Nigeria. Or how can we get other popular online shop to access steem as form of payment. I cant wait to see that happen
