Calling all whales, calling all whales... I want to see your WHALE POWER... How much power is it anyway?

I am still pretty new to steemit not even a week in yet... I think. Maybe today is a week actually I will confirm later. Anywho, I have started to make a few bucks here and there on posts and have to say I am really enjoying myself so far, but see some people get massive payouts, often with fewer votes than my posts. So I am thinking it's because they have caught the eyes of some of our steemit whales... hmm... light bulb

Now I am bit unsure about Steemit etiquette, but feel like I have to at least try this and find out or keep pondering it day after day (because I will). SO, if this turns out not to be cool, I apologize now and this will not happen again.

Now with that being said... I'm asking a few whales by name to upvote this post so I can see just how much voting power people have. Like I said I am a noob and there are certain things I have not looked into and there for have no idea about how a lot of this platform works, but I am trying to think outside the box in figuring it out and am just looking for some help in doing so. Any whales looking to mentor? Anybody else wondering the same things I am, or am I just the dufus trying to catch up to everyone else? Let me know.
