What Are Your Thoughts On Up-Vote Bots?

in steem •  7 years ago

I'm no whale, but I'm less likely to vote much on a post that already has a big reward and especially so if the big votes were bought. I can appreciate that it's hard to get exposure, but a bought vote is not a sign of quality, although the poster may have some feeling it deserves to be seen. Things are being messed up by people spending huge amounts (50 SBD+) on votes for a post. That can be enough to get them on the main trending page. To be honest, I rarely visit there as there's not generally much of interest to me. I rely on my feed as I follow a range of people and some of them re-steem cool stuff.

Anyway, dtube liked you post :)

It's obviously a lot warmer for you than here. Well below freezing today.

Thanks for the input @steevc, very interesting you don't even look at the trending or hot pages.

Yeah, it's a little cold in the UK right about now! South Florida is much warmer but I wish I had time to hang out at a tiki bar on the beach...

I just don't find much on those pages that interests me. A lot of it got there by self-voting or friendly whales, not necessarily for quality. My time is limited anyway.

Thanks for that... I've been having a discussion with one of my friends about this.. I brought up this exact point.

Hmm well that's a few strong answers. Thanks for the input. Interesting that you're less likely to vote on a post that even has an organic fat pay out on it.

I like to see the rewards spread out more. If someone already made $300 on a post they don't really need anything from me. BTW Dave has quoted part of my comment

Ah you're right I understand now... I thought that looked weird haha.

If you want to quote some text in a comment put a '>' at the start of the line. It looks like this.

Do I need one at the end of the line too?

No, just the start. Try it and you'll see it in the preview

Cool. Thanks.
