Every three seconds you have a choice on Steem

in steem •  6 years ago  (edited)

3...2...1...Go

That was your chance, but don't worry, in three seconds you will have another one.

Missed that one too? How many are you going to miss?

Of course, this is a rhetorical question because I don't really care what your answer is as I have my own life to live instead of worrying about the actions, or in this case, the inactions of others.

Does that sound cold?

It is funny isn't it because people continually say they just want to be left alone to do what they want and when they are ignored, they become attention seekers wanting to be noticed. No wonder the human condition is filled with so much suffering when even basic behaviors are filled with conflict.

"I want to be free... but I want to be protected."

For a long time I have known that security is an illusion but Steem has given me a much more concrete view of it and every three seconds, we see it play out and recorded, three seconds later it plays out again. How many 3 second blocks have you been on Steem for?

For which I have been here.

808 days

January 29, 2017 - April 17, 2019

23+ million opportunities to make a mark on the Steem blockchain and the various marks directly associated to me make up 1812 pages of records so far.

That is:

2,808 posts | 19,010 comments | 36,227 replies

The engagement.

50,918 votes | 274,731 votes received

The economics.

I don't autovote by the way - that is 50k+ manual votes cast.

Numbers are interesting I find and these ones are just basics that anyone can view. Do you ever have a look at your own numbers to see what is going on - see how you are performing? I don't mean to compare yourself to others but rather to see if there is a variation in the way you feel you are doing and how you are actually doing. There is a funny thing that humans do that when we compare ourselves to others that are doing a similar set of tasks, we generally think we are doing more than others - even if we are not. Is that the case for you? Is it the case for me?

In comparison to many I definitely do more than the average when it comes to writing and interacting on Steem but, is that a lot, is it difficult for me? Not really and he only things that have held me back are my lack of time and not wanting to spam the blockchain. I have so many things to write that if I had the time and resources to support, I could literally sit here and write articles all day. Of course, I would have to get out of the house from time to time too as my articles are generally based on my real-life experiences which means, experience is necessary to be able to write - life is a catalyst of thought, thought inspires life.

Not everyone needs this though depending on the topics they choose, as some people prefer to present information that they are regurgitating from other sources such as the news or whatever they have been recently entertaining themselves with digitally. I don't find a lot of the rewritten type of content interesting most of the time as I can find it online myself if I choose and when I hear the buzzwords of the day being repeated as if they are new, I get turned away. As I have said before, generic content.

What I can't find online is my own experience and as a result, that is what I like to hear from other people's life too as there can be both personal overlap for connection and personal overlap for lessons to learn. When I can relate to the content at hand in some way I am much more likely to spend more effort thinking about it. Some people are better at building those relationships than others to give a more compelling and interesting view of the world than others.

Some people with all of their intelligence do not seem to realize that no on cares what they have to say because they haven't been able to create a connection. How smart are they if they want to be heard but kind find a way to connect with the audience they want to be heard by? This is the same with all the people who talk about the way to be on Steem yet fail to understand their own actions every three seconds. Short attention spans.

Just think what is achievable in the next 3 seconds, the next 3000 seconds, the next 3000000 seconds. That is the next million Steem blocks and will take 34.72 days to arrive. I know what I will be doing because it will be the same thing that I have been doing for the last 808 days, working my jobs, spending time with my family, shopping, eating, learning, laughing, sleeping and creating for Steem.

Steem breaks life into 3 second blocks - life sets no such conditions - but a life is a finite resource nonetheless and how you use yours is up to you.

Oh no that tangle of numbers, you make it look easy man!

Steem is fun though, isn't it?

I also bypass the generic content as I find it really boring. Real life things are way more interesting as we can connect with the writer. There are very few users on here writing about themselves and those are the ones who I follow.

I find the people who let themselves into the post, not just tell about their life are the best to read as they´re is personalty in it and as long as it seems genuine, it is enjoyable. When I read some, I can feel the engineering of the content to portray something they are perhaps not.

I think I have got to know the genuine ones now and it is more of a personal relationship which makes their posts different from all the others.

The blocks give is some perspective on how time passes no matter what we do. Just like with the history of the world, we are often focus on a time period but this comes to be such a small portion of the total! On my way home to look at more numbers and get my post up on my journey’s review!

I believe on some places, platform or situation, intelligence does not really matters so much. It is smartness and connection that matters most
