The first shade of gray

in steem •  5 years ago

Day one of training is down and I even got my luggage delivered just in time to have a pair of shoes to wear, although I didn't have a chance to shave. I think that after I talk with my family, I will go for an easy walk around the old town here in Duesseldorf and take some pictures, find a place to eat and perhaps write a little along the way.

I enjoy writing while travelling when I get the chance and because my time is quite limited, my posts tend to be less Steem related as I don't read quite as much, nor have the energy to talk about the more technical sides. As I have said before, writing is cathartic for me and there is value in it anyway. There is also apparently value for at least some of the audience whether for information directly or as a source of information to build upon. That is good.

I hit a milestone I think today, as after 3328 top-level posts on the blockchain, I had the first ever one grayed out by downvotes.

For those who aren't playing along and only seeing my posts go through the feed, I have attracted a secret admirer who likes to send bunches of flowers every few days.

I think there are more, but they are all the ones I have screenshots of on my phone and I can't bother looking for the rest. I am not really sure why, but I don't think the reason really matters much. I assume the reason that I am getting so many is because I am likely one of the most prolific posters on the blockchain without automation, shitposts or useless trash that no one reads.

Well, some people read it at least... sometimes.

Even if 25% of the comments I receive are spam (which is not the case), I have stall managed to attract about 10 comments per post on average across 3000+ posts. Not bad I'd say for nearing 3 years.

This is me:

But of course, I can't compete with:

Pity downvotes weren't free 2 years ago, eh? I wonder how many of the problems that exist now would have been nipped in the bud before they became a problem, how many circles would have been prevented from getting a foothold and, how many of the deserving contributors would have been among the highest earners on the platform once there was greater up and downvote parity.

Better late than never

And that is where we are, late, but slowly improving. And in time, the more people who care and look long are preparing themselves by staking up through earning and purchase, the less power the abusive users and extractors on the platform have. I mention the vested stake increasing because if those who are vesting are looking long, it will lead to a much greater ecosystem health and stability for SMTs to be built upon.

The thing is that no matter the content type or quality, the staked amount or the value of STEEM in general - it is always the personality of the user that dictates behavior and some, will never be of much use on chain, or off.

It looks like he went to town on you. You are right as the more that gets staked there is less overall that can go to abusers. Everyday they are slowly being diluted.

It is not just less that goes to them, it is they have less influence and their damage is easier to counter. Not the end of the world.

Thanks mate

erm... Are you by chance following any of those newish automated Blind 'Curation' Trails who 'curate' content with canes & guide dogs my friend?

Nope.

Ugh, then I really wonder what the hell could have made you a target of such lovely & undesired courtesy.

I am not really sure why,

I know why. Those two accounts are controlled by the same grude holding toddler.
He's after everyone that was part of the campaign to end what he was doing with his auto cut&paste posts. You wrote that article way back about the voting circles, and he must have made a not of you back then to hit you back at some point.

He did this to me for an entire month, flagging every single post to zero with both of those accounts, including comments. I was defiant and kept posting, so I must have pissed him off more.

I haven't posted on Steem for almost a week now, so he's able to charge to 100% and hit someone else now. I guess you took my seat on the bus. :)

Once my offline project completes and I return to posting regularly, I can take some of the heat back haha.

He has been doing it for about 10 days now, good luck to him. I haven't missed a day of posting in 2.5 years other than hard fork outages.

Ironic that it's the "cencorship" one that got grayed out :)
Anyway, I've managed to ungray it for now, pending further downvotes :)

Lol yeah. Thanks. I definitely don't see DVs as censorship, but it is funny. =)
