Apps Going Crazy: Actifit Roadmap And Another SMT On STEEM???

in steem •  6 years ago

The updates yesterday from @steemitblog and @dtube were very exciting. These were two big announcements yet it is not those type of situations that will make STEEM one of the leading blockchains. Instead, it is the hundreds of upgrades that are made over the course of time to different applications.

One of my favorite so far is @actifit. This is an appealing application for a few different reason.

A) The market potential for fitness trackers is huge
B) Rapid and consistent upgrades from the development team
C) A generous early adopter program

Most everyone is aware of Fitbit. Imagine being able to use that Brand while also getting paid on the STEEM blockchain. This is part of the plan.

So, to keep everyone up-to-date with what is going on, I asked @mcfarhat for a revised road map for the application.

Here is what he sent to me. I will state we did not have a conversation nor did I ask for further clarification on any of these points.

  • IOS App: This is at the top of the list is, according to him, almost complete. It will be sent to Apple soon for approval. The ETA is tough since the ball will be in their court but the IOS version is coming.
  • More updates to the website
  • More graphics work
  • Starting to work on wearable integrations (looking at fitbit and samsung wearables)
  • Upload image functionality from within app: This could be good to add pictures to one's walks, runs, or bike rides.
  • Enhanced rewarding mechanism for upvotes, and potential for comment rewards
  • FAQ for Actifit app
  • Video tutorial for Actifit app
  • White paper and financial figures

That is a healthy amount of work to be done. It is also pretty impressive to me. These guys know the direction they are heading in. Adding @actifit to the Fitbit and Samsung bands would be huge. Both these brands have tens of millions of users. That could really add to the STEEM ecosystem since all would require a STEEM account.

And now with the announcement of the Hard Fork, we will see onboarding directly by this application.

I love those applications that have a road map and are moving forward rapidly. To me, that is what will add enormous value to the blockchain. When you see a few updates in a month, that is is impressive to me. This means the development is focused and knows what it seeks to create. That is something that we all should get behind.

As for another SMT, here is something that is a bit of conjecture since I could not find verification this outfit will use STEEM. However, they discuss rewards for reviewing content. This certainly sounds like the STEEM content/reward system.

Also, this company had a STEEM account since January of this year. Certainly it is possible they are using STEEM solely for marketing/blogging purposes but I find that unlikely. As much as I love STEEM, it is not the usual marketing arm UNLESS a company sees the potential of this blockchain and has aspirations of doing something on it. Again, conjecture on my part but trying to connect the dots.

The company is LucyD and it just opened up an estore. They specialize in the development of augmented reality wearables. They are going to create the token called the LCD.

Today, they announced the grant opening for their store in a post. Looking at their blog, they are active in their posting on STEEM. This is not something that was done just to promote their store. There is a track record of STEEM activity which is a positive.

Augmented reality, in my estimation is going to be one of the major technologies in the next couple years. My estimate is 2019/2020 will see a massive explosion in 3D printing with AR getting mass coverage right after that. This could be ideal timing for this company to get started.

The LCD token. Many of you are wondering when LCD will come into play. We are currently developing a wearable app for LCD to enable its use with both Lucyd Lens and Loud. We are also developing integration into the eShop for a rewards program, and redemption for hardware and software. We expect to have these utilities in the next 6–7 months.

What is interesting about this project being tied to blockchain is that it is a two-way street. Not only will the trasnactions be conducted online but the A/R is going to use the information posted on the blockchain for the data that goes into the AR. The wearables will be able to access the information on the blockchain to provide it immediately to the individual.

It is a very exciting time on the STEEM blockchain. The hits just keep on coming. Hopefully, people who are on here consistently are realizing how little the FUD actually is based in fact. There is a ton of development taking place and that is what is important at this time. In the last month, the price of the token fell while the announcements of new applications and updates "steemed" ahead.

Each day, we keep adding more neat stuff to the blockchain.

I would love to have actifit on my samsung gear. The unfortunate bit is that it uses taizen OS, which has a limited set of apps. The battery life on smasung smartwatches is exceptional and the new samsung galaxy watch will last 5 to 6 days without charging. I think this is a great project for further adoption of steem blockchain. Hats off to @mcfarhat.

Thanks for pointing out LucyD. Will check them out.

Thank you for the kind words! As @taskmaster4450 we are working into making it happen :)

there is nothing wrong with Tizen, it's Linux under the hood.
I own a Gear S3 and started developing for that thing a week ago. Possibilities are good code- and OS-wise, I don't know yet what the store/ecosystem allows or not. I usually root my stuff and do what I want ;-) For mainstream adoption the app needs to be in the official store of course.
Glad they picked it up, I "voted" for Gear integration in Discord, too :)

Well i am not a developer, so i need someone to build apps for me. :) i had no idea, tizen allowed that, thanks for pointing that out, may be it has a lot of potential.

Yeah, once the blockchain is up and the projects move forward... It isn't always exciting, but slow steady growth is fine. We just need a few "hit" apps.

Your post has been hand-picked by an Actifit moderator for additional reward, as having great content and Actifit promotional-quality aspect.
Well done, you've been accordingly rewarded 200 Actifit tokens, as well as a higher upvote!

Thank you!
