The cryptocurrency market is beat up. There is no way to sugar-coat that. The pricing action the last two months is awful. STEEM is now flirting with heading below the $2.00 level.
What is one to do?
While the rest of the cryptocurrency space loses their head, Steemians have the advantage of doing exactly what the token was designed for. We can post, comment, and upvote.
In other words, it is time for Steemians to get busy.
We cannot control or effect the market unless we are a major whale with a lot of money. Markets are going to do what they want. They are not reflective of what is going on with the blockchain. Nonetheless, too many people see to let price action impact them.
Focusing upon what we can control is the key to success.
Steemians can control their activity on here. STEEM is a utility token which rewards people for their contributions to this blockchain. While the price might be down, the reward pool is still paying out each day. This is a fact that does not change and will remain in place for the next couple decades. The STEEM blockchain is very consistent; Steemians need to be also.
The answer is always the same....post, comment, and upvote.
Of late, it appears some people pulled back. There can be a variety of reasons for this. However, I hypothesize that many simply do not like the negativity associated with a dropping in price. The FUD gets to them.
I can understand this. It is not easy to operate in this environment if you give it a lot of attention. Of course, it is only compounded if one takes it to be real. While the drop in price is real, the FUD surrounding it is garbage.
Yesterday, I posted an article about some of the headlines that I easily found regarding blockchain and cryptocurrency. These are big stories yet you do not see them splashed across the headline of the mainstream media. Since they stories do not fit into their FUD agenda, these are basically hidden.
There is a ton of stuff happening on the STEEM blockchain. With the first quarter being a train wreck for cryptocurrencies, it is hard to keep motivated. Yet, that is exactly what we need to do.
It is times like these where consistency is key. Instead of pulling back, we all must surge forward. It is time to get busy on here and increase our activity. I know many put forth maximum effort and dedication each day. These are the core people who are holding this blockchain together. It is these individuals who are the example to follow.
The answer is always the same....post, comment, and upvote.
If you are one who writes an article a day, perhaps kick it up to two. During your travels around STEEM, post another couple comments. It is always good to get a fresh perspective by going into some of the categories where people from third world nations post. That will give some gratitude for the position we are in AND remind us how important even a few cents can be to some people.
The price of STEEM will recover. There is too much going on for this blockchain to fall by the wayside. It is easier to get active when one puts up a post and it makes 3 times what it is now. It is at these moments where we are challenged. Our role is to keep active some we set an example for newer people.
Unlike most other cryptocurrency holders who have to sit and watch their tokens fall in price, Steemians can ignore that and get busy.
I suggest that we all do that.
The answer is always the same....post, comment, and upvote.

Damn...never seen a motivation on this platform this big. This is definitely a wake up call. This is the time to put steemit out there. Now that interested are low and people seem weak. This is the time to put in all the needed effort, write more to make this platform greater than any.
I will confess that i been affected by the FUD and it has definitely affected the rate at which I write but with this, I am gonna jump right back up and do what needs to be done for this blockchain.

With as much time as I spend on the internet, I only run into FUD that's on Google ads on Coin Market Cap. If a lot of people join right now, than they will be used to the "low" prices, and they will not see it as anything, just business as usual. Once a bunch more people start really making good content, than we will have a solid platform.

Many users, if not most, are here solely for the monetary rewards. Boo hoo to them. Being a HODLer, token prices are not monitored by me much. The $20k+ BTC had me dust off my wallet from the last time it was out of storage in 2015. But they (forked wallets) have been returned to the vault again. Wake me up when BTC is $50k s'il vous plait. 😎

Exactly. There are so many of them that just want money. It's nice when you find people that wanna do something with the money or platform, like dig others out of poverty. It just sucks that they are harder to find than people who just want cash.

Being in the crypto/steemit world has showed me how reactionary most of are. We really play into the FUD and FOMO of this world. I do over and over again. Someday I’ll learn.

Definitely agree with you! Steem is at a great place being a blockchain platform as well as a social media portal that is building a community. Given the intersection of both, growth opportunities are huge as interest and adoption grows. Thanks for engaging the community as it is truly needed when times are like the recent weeks.

I think engaging with the community is something that needs to be worked on. Most of the Red Fish find success more so in commenting and replying to comments than actual authoring. If there was something like that in the FAQ, I think it would make a big difference.

That's a good point. I'm pretty new, and it's definitely been a struggle trying to figure out how things work. I've had some folks point me in the right direction, but I've also had to muddle around and stumble onto the posts explaining why things don't work the way I think they do, and that can be frustrating. But I'm going to stick with it, because I think this platform is important!

Two things you said in this post (while ALL very solid information) really struck an inner chord with me...
While I can't control the price of steem, I can control how I use my time on the platform most efficiently. I can control the way I interact. And I can control my choices while building and establishing my brand.
I was raised in a home that the value of a hard day's work would eventually pay off. Do your job, do it well and reap the benefits in due time. You know... the mentality of you get out what you put in. And this is how I treat steemit. All my time curating, posting, commenting and interacting will eventually meet me somewhere down the line for my reward. I have found that if I focus on my tasks of the above mentioned steemit work, then when the price increases, it will benefit my time and hard work. Take this lull as a time to make yourself more visible, interact more frequently and hone in on your formatting skills.

The one time tested rule - as in my 7 rules to success / investing - is: "buy low - sell high".
This applies to many things such as don't chase the hot fad or profession. This also help me get into Artificial Intelligence over 30 years ago when I was told: "There is nothing in AI" by a very smart student - classmate who was studying VLSI.
So, in order to get to the top here as well as to gain from the rewards steemit.com provides, this is a great time to get busy and to invest and power up.

That's the spirit! I couldn't login to Steemit and busy.org for the last several hours - still doesn't work for many users - I'm using steemitstage.com - the testing environment from Steemit, because it's the only interface that works for me at the moment.
I was just about to prepare a new article, but when not only the price is down, but also the different interfaces, I may wait until this issue is resolved before I post... Thanks for the motivation as always! Cheers!

The rewards payouts are calculated based on last 3 days´s price of STEEM/SBD, so the prices being so low is just another great reason to post more and more, because, soon the price will start to go up and consequently (at the same time), the rewards will be even better.
This platform is just amazing it doesn't really matter what the price of the currency, success is the end point.

It helps to remember that rewards are in steem, SBD, and SP. So, the $ value ATM is really irrelevant. I'l ignore that ATM since I am focusing on long-term and only look at my SBD, steem and SP - SP mainly.

I do a 5 day a week series, it doesn't earn much, but that's not why I do it. I do it because I love to share the message in them (Bible Scriptures) AND because it forces me to be consistent, to go to the platform five times a week, to upvote, read, comment and post at least that one post every single day Monday-Friday.
What you said in this post was so encouraging. Even if I have been grumbling to myself about the prices of Steem because I use it as seed money for my ministry ;)

I personally pulled back recently for a few days, but it was entirely based on personal reasons, just oddly coincided with the FUD and dropping prices. I noticed many other people letting up a bit or going awol as well.
I think it was bound to happen, some people on here are going at a breakneck pace. Cranking out 2+ articles a day, reading, and commenting is time consuming and can wear on people. Not to mention coming up with content.
There are only a few people pulling this off regularly and those people are meeting a ton of success. I'm always amazed how much quality you put into posts with how frequent you post. Nice job, you're a great influence for the platform. I gotta get back in the groove..

I agree that it is important to post every day, regardless of how much the price of Steem is. Someone I follow, I don't remember who, talked about how, even though the price is down, since less people are posting you have less competition, so that's a bit of a plus.
I think that those who stop posting because of the price really don't understand the long-term. Everyone forgets (once upon a time,) when YouTube was small and the people who made content could make absolutely no money, even with sponsorships, there were many people making content each day. Those people created the giant we know today and make millions just off of ads, the worst and lowest kind of revenue.
We can do the same with Steem and Steemit and make way more money, but it requires thinking long-term.

Solid advice however I think its the plankton that are least effected by the price of steem.
As a plankton to get .20, .50 or even $2 can be exiting it those that see their posts go from being $50 down to $25 or lower that risk getting discouraged.
That being said I hate looking at my other wallets right now

Well it appears that people are not much posting on Steemit due to the low value of Steem. How stupid is that? Each day that we are not accumulation/being active on Steemit is a lost day! But hey that's my opinion.
Don't forget that you can also profit from this situation. The rewards pool stays the same, so we (the active ones) will get a bigger share!

That is my mindset. Although the decrease in SBD price hurting rewards but that was bound to happen at some point. SBD being inflated was a gift to take advantage of when it was like that. Now that it is returning to norm, payouts are matching.
That said, the reward pool does not change, only the number of people sharing in it. Like you said, might as well get what we can.

A winning strategy in sports is to do your best and not let the score influence how you play your game.

@goldendawne, you took the words right out of my mouth!! I was raised on a farm where we saw a direct correlation between our time and effort put in, compared to the yield we took out; that too is how I see steemit. And as much as I hated farming as a teenager, I'm so appreciative of the work ethic it instilled in me as an adult.

"The answer is always the same....post, comment, and upvote." - I totally agree!
Too bad that many people don't know utilize their freely given power - SP regeneration at 20% / day.
By upvoting someone's posts or comments, you exercist that power which is replenished.
I have invested and have done "The answer is always the same....post, comment, and upvote." as much as I can. The most powerful tool is still upvoting - it pays those who the $ reward means more than someone with a lot of SP plus if coming from someone with higher reputation score, you approve and make friends with it even if only at a lower percentage of SP.
