As I’m working on the next blocks and sections to bolt onto the existing 3hr content creators course it’s glaringly obvious that one of the most important factors of the steem blockchain is also probably the most least talked about, the fact that the steem blockchain itself is so resilient when it comes to a number of areas.
What with @dmania, @zappl, @dsound, @dtube, @dlive, @chainbb, @busy, @utopia, @steepshot and probably hundreds more that use steemconnect v2 (the facebook connect of authentication for the steem blockchain) we really have a very large, very active, incredibly resilient network of interconnected nodes that serve up ways to connect into the steem blockchain.
Just think about that for a minute, hundreds of witnesses around the world running servers with a copy of the blockchain, keeping that in sync, performing the admin tasks to keep good uptime and to make sure that blocks (parts of the steem blockchain ledger) are in sync so that when we connect to any of these web apps we are up to date.
So, most of us already here and following me already know that, they already understand that these sites auth with the steem blockchain via steem connect and we understand that what we put up on one website appears in our steem profile — we can access that in multiple ways as a blog using steemit.com, busy.org or even chainbb.com — all of these are simply front ends to the backend with is the steem blockchain.
redundancy over everything
If your coming into crypto and especially social media blockchains for the firs time you will probably be used to accessing one site, you go to twitter for twitter and facebook for facebook — it’s a little different like I mentioned above and something you need to get your head around right away because it’s a main plus point in your journey to understand decentralisation over centralised websites.
with so many websites getting hacked, ddos’d, account details getting hacked the way a blockchain works is a lot more resilient that what the currently offering of sites we have got used too, when something goes down with facebook it’s down until it’s fixed, when steemit.com get’s ddos’d by some script kiddies you can always go to the busy.org or chainbb or potentially many other mobile applications, esteem being one of them.
Because the communities runs lots of nodes even if the nodes are directly effected or flooded chances are they will have one of the nodes doing damage limitation to get the blockchain back up and syncing again — in the coming months the work they have been doing behind the scenes will take that up another level again to deal with the network size of over a million.
dealing with the horror stories of bitcoin & icos
I have to admit, I feel incredibly lucky and honoured that I was introduced to this network a year ago, I think it would be harder (not impossible) to get going and get some momentum on my blog to get a decent reputation and to build up a fairly ok amount of steem power on this platform.
after initially receiving a delegation for a few months it really made me look about what I wanted to and I wanted to engage on the platform, did I want to be part of a community or just a straight maverick, after all originally all I wanted was somewhere where I could blog and learn about crypto.
That’s changed over the last year and I’m slowly reminding my own purpose and momentum as to what I enjoy to do, what I like to make, what provides me value and hopefully from the comments I get from others — because of this it’s made me want to reinforce my findings about the steem blockchain because it has so many more upsides than that latest news of an exchange getting hacked or an ICO running off with all your ether.
not all crypto is the same, don’t put in the same box
It’s a mistake to hear all the stories of bitcoin and ico’s, legislation, up’s and downs and just write of what crypto brings to the table — steem it proof of that for me. I know that from the outside especially from a design aspect steemit can look like some kind of MLM or PONZI scheme forum and trust me I’ve seem them all over the years — did you not just see that ICO where it had some Hollywood celebrities graphic as a member of the team?
the steem blockchain is active, it’s been active for well over two years now, it’s had hard forks, nineteen of them in fact and it has it’s fair share of drama like most online havens of the ability to communicate with someone on the end of another keyboard — but in it’s adversity it’s found real strength of purpose, it’s connected together, provided financial rewards and ultimately made a lot of people consider what the hell they are doing with their lives.
the blockchain is the proof of brain glue
As I mentioned above you can connect to many fronts ends onto the steem blockchain so feel at easy there regarding the website, you’ll be able to get to your blog post in multiple ways, rest assured, calm yourself — tell other people about that, that steem has redundancy built in as a core component.
Second up, the other media sites I mentioned, especially @dtube and @dlive and @dmania are where you can decentralise store your media — from live streaming to video clips to even just memes if your still a bit scared to put your face to camera but you have the wit to make a bloody funny relevant piece of text on top of a graphic, it’s open and accessible and everyone is welcomed and anyone can get involved.
the visions is to grow to hundred and thousands
Imagine for a moment that you are an entrepreneur with a vision, maybe your just a community youth leader or someone that’s just lost their job and is redundant, what if I told you that in the coming years it just might be possible for you to realise a dream that you could bring to the platform.
maybe you want to take what you learned in the corporate world but do it your way without middlemen, or you wanted to help people in your local area, find a way to empower the children in your area or even just teach and educate people skills remotely through a live streaming camera and get paid to do it — how incredible would that be?
The vision here on the steem blockchain is clear — empowerment. i see no reason with the march of the platform, the developer base, the applications that are getting build and the interfaces that are designed for you to access that information that we can build a new kind of connected future, one that is central in it’s intention and decentralised in it’s approach.
Where all of us are students and teachers at the same time, at various junctions on our journey through life to use the many different parts of this rapidly evolving blockchain to realise some of our passions and dreams and share them in the understanding that our information is not data mined or advertising revenue exists around it — that we are not feeding the machine and algorithms but instead finding a way to continue to debate and dialog with each other without the platform taking the precedent.
I hope this post helps your decision to get started on the steem blockchain today, i suggest either signing up and getting an account at either steemit.com or the equally wonderful busy.org and just write, use the hashtag #introduceyourself and then sit back and wait, the world just might jump in and say hello back! :)

There are many applications on this blockchain
I think even there are to many of them
But it is good that it is allowed to give the own ideas a "try" on this plattform
I think the most likly apps are out now and I am happy to be part of this community
So to end my comment:
Thank you for sharing your informations and your opinion with us :)

no worries man, as a steemian that has been around for over a year i can say that it's just onwards and upwards with the many applications that this steem blockchain has.

i did'nt miss it. i can't get on with it and think it's a bit clunky, just personal choice, the options panels turned me off to it - maybe i should add it to the course thou.
