The hottest social media of 2017! Can you believe that?
The momentum seems to be back, the attention seems to be here, just a few days ago Fred Wilson was suggesting that Medium should look at steem.
Can you imagine the day when everyone starts putting their content on the steem Blockchain?
2017 seem to be the year of the attention economy, and hopefully steem will be a really hot commodity.
But for now, let us just celebrate this small victory because Rolling Stone Australia has just released their annual Hot List.

Steemit would probably be a good platform for new musicians trying to get some traction. However, I think there is a problem with the payout. For instance, they could post their song, and maybe get as much as $100 reward for it. The problem is that this is pretty much a one-time thing, and they would need to push a lot of new music to be able to actually make a decent income. But what if we had some system where they could earn based on how many listens they get? That would definitely be really cool, and hopefully it would be able to pay a lot better than Spotify or YouTube.

They can keep posting new music as it happens and make something for each of those. I'd like to see a Tip button so you can give more than your vote is worth if you have some Steem. Maybe there could be a whole new service that pays based on listens. That needs some development

Yep, it would probably require a lot of development, but a type of tipping function, where you could set it to tip a small amount each time you play a song etc. is probably something that will attract a lot of new creators here :)

A tip button is an interesting idea. @kus- knee and @papa-pepper have both been doing something like that and rewarding comments and posts from our own wallet when we feel that they are worth more than their payout.

I heard about Steemit in the US Rolling Stone issue, a little over two months ago.
Love the idea about the tips for posts that you like that go beyond your voting power. Also, anything to develop the music scene would be awesome!
