Should Steem Be Rewarding 'Proof of Brain' or 'Proof of Wallet'? Plus, Are Vote Bots Good/Bad?

Let's be honest here. Any, and I mean ANY system will eventually be taken advantage of if there is a reward involved. No one is going to avoid human nature.
I am not sure that steemit is for or against bots. Perhaps they are philosophic about it and simply want the system to go where it will. If they wanted to, a simple change to the code would indeed stop it....until the next advantage is developed and we are right back to the same point of " are guessing bots good or bad?" or whatever exploit becomes useful.
To fight the bots is to make them win. If steemers weren't commenting and voting, the circle of money would quickly disappear.
So until steemit decides which way they want us to go, assume they want it and take advantage. If you have such a big brain, then use it along with the bots and you should immediately shoot to the top.
Just my 2 pennies worth.

So you are proposing transhumanism? Steemit is not a terminator movie. I believe @ura-soul is weighing up the efficacy of bots, not trying to fight them. With respect to human nature and rewards we must constantly be on guard and know that this is steemit not facebook. You can get a dopamine hit purely by using said "brain-power". :) Peace and respect.

I see and agree with your point gurugnu. I personally would prefer that steemit was used as we believed it to be intended. That is a Proof of Brain product. I hope that is the direction we travel.

@thecolony. I concur sir. I suppose with any platform there would always be wrinkles that need ironing out. Steemit is still relatively new but I do think that it is coming along nicely. Peace and Love.

Greetings! There will always be those who seek to exploit, yes. The Steemit terms and conditions specifically forbid the use of bots, but the terms are not enforced.

I am not really suggesting any top-down control, but instead just wanting to at least plant seeds regarding what could be possible vs what we have currently. What people individually do with the thoughts is up to them!

@ura-soul I can certainly understand and totally agree with your post in both intent and theory. As I understand it you wanted to point out the clear philosphic demarkation between the two strategies. It was concise and obivously proof of brain was the strategy for this particular post at least. If we could all look at this issue as you have, a couple thousand steemers brainstorming could come up with unique and effective actions that could be taken should we see some consensus on what would be best for steemit and its human constituents.
Thank you ura-soul
