Saying that, I am guilty of failing to understand the politics. This is true for both here on Steemit and for the real life and government. It seems whenever there is a governance. I see things that could make things better. Those views ignored as some pockets will lose a penny today. No thought or consideration for what could be tomorrow and the benefits that can come along with that. Simply because it would allow for other voices to grow stronger. Controlling the majority of a population regardless of it is in your nation or here on Steemit holds priority. This can be seen plainly if people decide to look.
Recent events have opened some eyes, but only to be tunnel visioned back under a different control by the same elite.
Recently Justin Sun Purchased Steemit Inc and all its holdings. This includes control over a large stake. The original amount stated was 72 Million Steem. (A pre-mined stake or generally called Ninja stake.) Now it is said to be 65 Million. regardless it is seen as a threat to the security of the block chain. This is not exactly true. It is a threat to the governance of the Steem chain and the direction Steemit.com will take. The present or governance of the chain was put at risk should that stake be used for voting to witness. This does not mean a threat to the security of the chain though. It does throw out there a change to the direction Steemit.com might take at a future time. Essentially creating a centralised authority, instead of the previous centralised authority run by a cliche.
While I agree with the general consensus of the whole population of the platform, that have taken part in some discussions on various servers on Discord. The consensus that the majority of the population would like to leave Steemit.com to run the way it has done, this does not mean a consensus from the population they want the governance of the Steem chain to remain the same.
Many agree that many things need to be changed and that a small few at the top control and manipulate things for their own advantage with disregard for the rest of the population.
There seems to be from those a few a ambition to gain control of the "ninja stake" or at least part of it. So it can be used for the benefit of the chain. I would like to examine that. The benefit of the chain from use of that stake.
So we have some at the top wanting that stake to go to a specific place for it to be used in Steemit's future. My opinion is if that does happen. We the population lose out for the rewards to a select few who will use DPOS system to promote their own projects. Gaining greater control over the chain and further concentrating the authority over decisions made for the future of the chain to a small few.
This all going on while statements are made about community over and over again. I guess I and many others are not part of the community. Opinions voiced fall to deaf ears. Maybe it is a lack of ability to understand on those higher up or maybe they just do not give a shit if you are not a threat to the position they hold. No need to be friendly to you if you are not a threat.
Everything is focused right now on Justin Sun. What he did his intentions. The SF that took place and the justification of it. Personally I think it is all just distraction to take people away from the real problems within Steemit.com and the governance holding it hostage regardless if it is Justin or the witness cartel.
A grievance is held by many of the witness at the top about the "ninja mined stake". This might be justified to some extent as it is said that the same stake was used to introduced code wanted by Steemit Inc and then return control to witness who held governance.
At that time a code was wrote to introduce prevention of this happening again, avoiding the ability for one entity to take control over the chain. So how did Justin manage to gain control over the chain and bring us to this current state? The answer is simple, Ignorance of the witness cartel. They demanded something, gained a code to prevent use of that "ninja mined stake" at HF 14 and did not use it until after Justin purchased Steemit Inc.
Will there be any accountability? Bollox. As soon as control is regained, celebrations of how great they are will ensue of self promotion and the great deed they have achieved. Those who were part of that achievement forgotten never to be mentioned.
Reclaiming the chain and finding a reason to create a FORK away from Steemit.com is all I have heard in any discussion, how can the fork away be justified and make us look good. Not one of the consensus have come forward to my knowledge. Not in any of the discord servers I visit with anything positive to promote gaining an advantage from the investment of Justin Sun, opportunity missed.
Who Justin Sun is or his past, the intention he came to the chain with have nothing to do with the statement in the last paragraph. That does not change witness cartel showed nothing to the population of how we could gain an advantage from that investment. Everything revolved around creating an atmosphere for a hard fork away from Steemit.
From HF 14 to HF 22 governance concentrated within a small few. The last HF ensured them a higher growth than the average member. Creating code that will provide higher rewards to those at a higher level SP than those with lower. Creating a class system were the majority become nothing more than human bots to create actions on the chain.
The last hard fork. Essentially taxed the lower level to provide higher reward for the top. The change made to the reward system only benefits those at the top. Justification spouted is "Don't you get higher curating rewards."
The truth is no you do not. You gain 25% more rewards possibly. But the amount you vote to the same post or comment has dropped by 50% Your vote value now is only worth half of what it previously was. Gain a quarter and lose 50%.
While at the top the higher Steem Power held provide a greater reward than prior to HF 22. The majority of the population lost traction in their ability to promote and reward the content they would like to see rewarded. At the same time, post which hold very little value, tell us nothing are pumped up to the top by the same people to the same people over and over again.
The conclusion I come to repeatedly is the witness cartel do not give a damn about you. They only concern themselves with what they can gain. When that position is challenged is the only time they will embrace you into conversation and make you feel like you are part of a community.
Over the last 18 month many voices have spoken out about the governance system and the ability to use it to control who is in those positions. Showing the possibilities of what could happen. Each time voices were ignored until now.
Even now any attempt to discuss changes to the governance is dismissed or redirected toward actions of Justin sun. The problem is not with Justin Sun. The problem is within the electoral system of witnesses. The repeated dismissal or redirection of this topic demonstrates to me. The witness cartel want to retain that control and will avoid it until they gain a greater stake they will be bale to move to other accounts. Work out the numbers need to ensure they remain with power and those numbers to vote for witness will be used.
Only when they have a solution they believe will leave them in power will be said to anyone. At that time they will hold power and have consensus to employ the changes to code that suit them best, again leaving us with a centralised authority on a decentralised platform. The biggest obstacle to bringing investment to the Steem chain over the past years. Be that centralisation be with Steemit Inc or a witness cartel. It brings us back to we are not decentralised and merely human bots that save running costs for the upper class here on Steemit.

Right now, with this stalemate, we are at the pinnacle of decentralization. The user are, if they are posting, the ones benefiting from this stalemate. The price is back to some where between 12-18 cents last I looked. We are getting more steem if we get votes, so people need to stop their vote buckets from overflowing and vote for stuff, post stuff, and comment on stuff. The community needs to keep being a community, showing both sides that we are here, we are paying attention.
Prior to the purchase there were post talking about and want shorter power down cycle, there were also post talking/asking would you still be here if there was no steem rewards. Post about doing away with the reward system altogether. If the witnesses think the community is going to forget the trespasses of the past by the witnesses once/if they ever regain control.
The community I think if steem block chain survives, will not let bygones be bygones. They will expect transparency, they will expect communications on plans before implementation. Some of the top 20 witnesses may not survive in the top 20 when it is all said and done. We have the chain to remind us of the trespasses after all.
For now I say let the stalemate ride for another 2 months at least. See who has the staying power, who can think and find a way out of the stalemate. A fork, a sister chain, another block chain as some want, I will wait and see. Personal preference is for the steem block chain to survive.

Justin is buying up Steem

If he buys enough to take total control, I will still wait and see what happens. I know one thing only right now and that is I am 85% sure I will not migrate to any chain that andrachy creates. A steem fork, is about 50/50 right now if I will go or stay. A steempeak block chain I could consider. I would still like to make it another 2 1/2 years here make it to my original 5 year mark, I may be stubborn enough to make it, just not sure.

A fork simply ensures that the work put in to date is not lost.
That is probably the simplest way of describing it, while many can definitely add to what all it brings to the table, the simple fact of the matter is a fork saves the blockchain as is to the date of the block from which it is forked from.
Front ends like Steempeak, will be able to utilize both chains, no matter what the situation may be, after all imo it is us the people that matter and many have clearly stated that they plan on using both chains after a fork happens.
So there is no reason to look at a fork as "something different", in fact, if anything, it is a normal part of evolution in the blockchain scene.
Especially in cases like this, where saving what we have built to date is the foundation of the fork.

Many people have voiced similar thoughts in the past.
Much of it due to the fact that communications were always "non existent" and that lead to a lot of the issues.
While at the same time, way too much noise existed at almost all levels.
Balancing the interests of "money" and "power" along with the needs and 'wishes' of the community is definitely not an easy job within a PoS based ecosystem.

@thehive I know we have both expressed some conflicting views over the last few weeks and for my part I often find opposing views to be illuminating but something that I did not realize until reading this post is that we both share a similar view in regards to the overall abuse/corruption and ignoring of community voices that happens at the very 'top' of the Steem ecosystem.
I cannot agree more with the following two statements and they are something that I have repeatedly noticed myself.

Thank you, It is nice to hear confirmation on opinion at times too. Like yourself I do like to be opposed on my views, it helps develop a clearer thought.

Indeed it is nice to hear confirmation on opinions. The difficulty is that even if someone agrees with one particular opinion yet disagrees with other opinions they will often disregard all opinions. Personally I think that seeing the world as 'black or white' is myopic because it is really just many shades of grey.

What an excellent point of you, thank you much! You speak out of my heart and mind with this. May I add a comment (adapted to this point) I made just today:
"What would make us think, that after all what happened, that all these people have some interest in all this. The behavior of rich is always directed to the money value and the increase of it. Nothing human in all of it, so rich folks mostly have no empathy or even the slightest understanding of something like that. This will end in the way the one with the most power wants it to happen... and since a lot of folks are involved, it just will take a little more time."

Not too sure that will end, personally I feel a way to control who gets to the top will be examined by the witness and then that will be pushed to the platform. Numbers are being crunched by quite a few to find that solution. That's the only reason I can think to why there is no discussion to a solution or very little.

Deals between the powerful. Hmmm, that would be even worse then I guessed... Hopefully I haven't started for nothing on a "dezentralized" platform.
