The idea to this post was inspired after I read this post written by @davidpakman where he talked about recruiting another big Youtuber called @theneedledrop to STEEMIT.
And I was intrigued, so I checked out the profile of @theneedledrop and what I saw there - was actually something I expected..
Steemit getting used as a simple tool of sharing Content - without even spending time into creating content around it for Steemit itself.
Steemit is not just another social media site
But people treat it like that. Especially the ones who are already successful on YouTube or Instagram & Co.
They create simple posts with a few sentences and a link to their video on youtube or upload it to @dtube and expect some results. But probably because they don't know any better.
However, the truth is that Steemit is not just another social-media site. It is much much more.
It is a mix of everything we have ever known before. It is part Facebook, part Medium, part Youtube, part instagram and more.
While this might probably change over the next year(s) - right now at least, Steemit is something very different than most people know.
Which is not a bad thing, though!
Steemit is about the connection between Author, Reader and Content
The most important part on Steemit is in my opinion the connection between the Author and the Reader and the bridge inbetween, called: Content.
At least in this current state
On videos from successful Youtuber's are so many comments, that many focus more on producing content than to engage.
And since they know this from Youtube, they try the same with Steemit. Producing Content and then letting it sit there.
But the truth is: this doesn't work here.
The content has to fit to Steemit
Partly also because the content - has to be authentic and fit to Steemit.
What I mean by that is:
Let's take a great Steemian as an example - @motoengineer - who is creating written Posts but also Vlogs and Videos on @dtube.
The video above is one of my favourites of him, because:
1.) he is very honest and authentic in it. Talking about his feelings and thoughts.
2.) he is engaging with his watchers and readers. Asking questions and for feedback.
3.) he is talking about something STEEM relevant - which is not a must though !
4.) he has also written a small article besides his video in which he is introducing his video and clearing up a few things upfront / afterwards
The 4th point is - for me - one of the most important ones that most people who are new on Steemit, like @needledrop, are not doing. Which, again, is not their fault - Steemit is just different.
Creating a connection between the video and the blog-article.
Even if the video or original content that get's shared is not exclusively for STEEM - the Post has to be.
And it doesn't take much!
Simply writing your own thoughts or sharing behind-the-scenes photos and storys - there is a lot one can do there.
Why am I writing this?
Well. Steemit will become mainstream.
STEEM is the most useful cryptocurrency besides Ethereum - in my opinion.
And people will come to Steemit, try it out and might leave frustrated because it doesn't work the way they expected it to work.
Why do I think that?
Because I felt the same when I came here.
I had x-times the urge of just leaving Steem for good, but I didn't do it. And for that I'm extremely glad!!
But most people won't have the same frustration tolerance.
We are early adopters - don't forget that!
I'll create another Post in the near future, where I talk about the exact steps one should take to make the transtition from traditional Social-Media to Crypto-Social Media, but one thing I can say already.
Buy STEEM and POWER IT UP!!
Seriously. This is not joke.
STEEM will become more expensive and STEEMPOWER is the only way to influence once own success on STEEMIT besides producing great content / contributions.
So - my first tip for you @theneedledrop would be: to take some of that ad-sense money and put it into STEEM and to power it up.
You know what - that's my tip for everyone!
i can draw something and get 3 likes(upvotes), but if i create an animated music video (taking hours) it wont get even 1 up, yet the video looks amazing? i still dont understand how that works, it quality is high too,but its much easier to simply draw something. maybe i forgot to add a steemit blog post with the video.

This is exactly my own thoughts about Steemit, and pretty much the same ideas I am trying to promote to my followers and new users I am bringing in. A Steemit post can be so much more then just a dropped in embedded video - and often I feel many readers might not want to watch the video - so I try to include screen grabs from it with supporting text - so if they don't want to watch they can just read what it is about and seem the main events from pictures - or indeed short gifs made from the video content which I now find work really well (I use gifs.com for this). Steemit has made it so easy to create posts rich in text, pictures, videos and gifs - the only real stumbling block is your own imagination. Many of my posts now include tips and guidance for my followers on how to grow and improve - and I will keep doing this because I just don't have the time to reach out to them individually - but the message is plain from everyone who is working hard on Steemit - if you put everything you can into every single post it has a far greater chance of doing well then a picture and a few words.

Before I compared Steemit as Facebook, but it made me think because it is more than steemit and is not to put photo or video take your advice and if you turn on more steem power this year all this year 2018 all you can accumulate

I totally agree!!! One type of person who will stay is a person similar to myself. I'm not a full time blogger, I don't want to put money into ads, I enjoy blogging for fun. SteemIt is a great place because I was making $0 on other platforms posting the same content on SteemIt. Now I'm making money and meeting new people because people actually want to interact instead of just pushing 'Like' for the hell of it.

Don't forget that if you don't have money to power-up with, your own thoughts are enough to generate a little bit of STEEM to power up with. Success may come a little slower as opposed to investing, but you are also investing your time.
I've felt bad feelings about the platform when it comes to the abuse that goes on, but there is also way too much good that outweighs the bad for me to put this crypto down. I've considered the youtube and twitch route but there has been too much controversy with those platforms and that includes ad revenue. Content creators getting paid for their content like this is right on par with why Ethereum will succeed. (Gas, Dapps, etc)
I've seen a lot of videos posted with no engagement regarding the steemit article itself. Sometimes I may not be able to watch a video just to understand what it's about. A good summary will make for healthy profits when it comes to providing quality content, as opposed to just dropping a video.
I also think these Youtubers that are dropping Youtube videos are using the wrong platform to use videos. (dtube)
