Since the recent events with the #STEEMHostileTakeOver - I think it's important we understand the Steem communities' thoughts on Blockchain & Decentralization & if/why it's important to you.

              Wow! Love this initiative! Great idea!

              I'll try to do my part but I'm still trying to talk sense to friends and family about the virus.

              So many with serious, preexisting conditions and therefor in high risk groups with a huge risk appetite.

              Sorry for dropping this in here Dan but I had to get it off of my chest and I wanted to hear what you and other steemians think. Gotta make a post about this.

                            What does decentralization mean to you, is it important, why?

                            Yes it is important and we must change the voting rules for Witnesses to achieve decentralization.

                            Without decentralization we get what we have had up until now. A group of witnesses who change the rules to suit and enrich the very people who vote them in. In turn disadvantaging the vast bulk of users.

                            We need to move away from Stake Based Witness Voting.

                              Lets start with the basic foundations of what we're all aiming for and if most of us are even on the same page.                                 Yes i dare say that Sun has a completely different page than many. I saw his suggestion of changing the rules to trons example but we would end up in the exact same situation that we have from the beginning.

                                It would be great if we could run two different experiments running parallel and get to play a role in both parts. What do you think? run one part as being completely decentralized 1 Person gets to vote 20 or thirty witnesses and Stake based variant they claim will work.

                                    I'm having trouble reconciling how we can have a discussion about decentralisation of the Steem blockchain that requires participants have a Twitter account? That seems tragically ironic while extremely relevant to the whole point of the conversation

                                    Decentralised blockchain is a world changing opportunity for everyone to take control of their individual value.
                                    I believe this is a watershed moment for humanity, and as such, it is imperative that this ideal be the driving motivation for our efforts.
                                    If we compromise that principle we will only be enslaving ourselves exponentially by forgoing the ultimate opportunity to establish true freedom for all.

                                                                                                    As a person who is 17, I can definitely see how decentralization would be a huge step to a better future. I'm hopeful to see some mass adoption soon.
