Why I believe every blogger/content creator should own at least 1,000 STEEM.
Attention is the end game, that is where the ball is going.
Right now people give their attention away for free. Ten years from now there will be people who make a living off just their attention alone. Twenty years from now there will be a sort of UBI (universal basic income) in place; each human's attention gives them so much $$ each month. No matter how you slice the cake, humans have value innately, and always will; your voice and choice are highly sought after!
The internet makes attention, at scale, much more abundant. Whereas pre-net, businesses resorted to billboards and the nightly TV ads to spread their message. Now every human across the planet can look down in the palm of their hand and see the exact same thing. This is something that has never been possible and we are seeing the ramifications of it as we speak. The attention economy is booming and early pioneers are paving the way for a Pay To View society.
Vessels, such as Steem & blockchain, in general, are what will give attention drastically more value. Humans have never had the ability to own their own data, cryptographically secured on a blockchain immune to hacker attack (the chain, not your keys, hide that shit!). Once people wisen up to how much their attention is really worth, and that Facebook is, in fact, the most expensive bill they pay each month threw sheer wasted attention freely given like a running water hose.
You see, the game is clear, we are playing Jenga, the blocks are super wobbly and it's Facebooks turn.
Facebook can't afford to pay users for their attention without taking a massive hit to the bottom line (no centralized company can). Steem however, this magical blockchain can; and it can do so not only for free but at a profit!
It is my belief the Steem blockchain will be highly sought after digital real-estate. Right now early movers have a huge advantage to gain a following and earn some Steem at what could be very cheap prices. Having even just a little influence on this network, at these prices, is not an impossible feat. At the current cap there can only be 300,000 accounts that hodl 1,000 Steem, and that's if all the whales sold. "The sun doesn't shine forever, but as long as it's here we might as well shine together." - Victory feat, Diddy.
The attention economy is going to come swiftly, make sure you're not getting ripped off for yours. Cheers.
When I joined Steem platform, I was skeptical because I never heard about it before so I do not have a baseline or at least a first hand word from my network. I paid an e-booklet $.$$ to know about Steemit and another $$ to get my account created so I did not want to spend more until I get comfortable growing my account organically. I waited to reach 500 SP (becoming a minnow) then that opened my other options and started buying Steem. This could be the same reason for new Steemians but with enough info about how the overall platform works, which you presented a sample, maybe we will feel more comfortable.
With the continuous rise of crypto system, I agree that people should invest even a small amount to keep up. Maybe others are still skeptical because even with its low price today, 1K Steem will already cost more than 10K in our fiat currency (for a sample). I just hope that people will invest with what they can afford.

You can invest just by blogging here. This is what makes steem unique and available to all. Many of the dapps are giving out free accounts and even delegating sp to get new people started.
It is not easy, but anyone can grow here with consistent effort and no investment other than time and creativity. Those of us who stick it out and keep trying will be in as good a shape as those that do invest actual money.
We might even be better off since we have to learn so many tricks and tips to survive here. I know of quite a few accounts that bought in and then do not do well since they do not have to make such efforts.

I think you made a pretty good move. I didn't start buying Steem until I had been around for about 6 months. I think it is important to get a feel for a place. After actively participating in the platform and writing many posts I felt confident and invested. I think I bought about 15K Steem. The price was somewhere between US$0.8 and $1. I bought another 50K+ Steem at the end of 2018. The price was only about US$0.32. The rise of the DApps gives me confidence that investing in Steem is a great move. It may take a few years, just takes a bit of patience.

Steem’s inflation rate is falling. Ten years from now, there will only be twice as many Steem as now. How much faster will the number of accounts grow? Crunch the numbers a bit and it quickly becomes evident that Steem could become much more difficult to obtain in the future.

Definitely this is imperative and I'm happy that I own over 1k steem and even more, the truth about this post is glaring, a time will come where this place (steem) will be sought out like oxygen and this current time we found ourselves is the best time to either buy it or earn it, no matter how, I think the future of steem is brighter than the sun and people don't just realise it yet.

I am in full agreement with you that facebook's days are numbered. I also think many of the other FANGs are in their cyclical late stages. What eventually replaces it is indeed going to be a massive winner, and that is what has kept my attention for the 15 months that's I've stumbled onto this site.
I think there are some issues with Steemit with the way that the deck is stacked (ie too many whales that don't actually understand what you have shown in such a short time, a strong community = stronger Steem price).
What I like about you is that you engage yourself and that is a breath of fresh air. If you engage, then you listen. And then we have hope.
So yes I agree completely that this could be and opportunity of a lifetime, and I personally keep my eyes open to see if Steemit can be the needle in the haystack.
Something will replace facebook, there is no doubt in my mind. Now the question is for Steem holders is "can we capture that opportunity?"

People votes are people's votes, so please do not take this wrong.
I think if we want to see steem continue to grow we need to not only look up be we need to look down also. I do not have a lot of steem, and my vote is not that great, still I try to keep it balanced, I primarily vote on content, at 50%, (100% if payout is below $0.100 and good), I figure I get about 20-25 votes a day. Half go to post with payouts above $1.00, and I try to send the other half to votes less than one dollar. I realize I will not make a lot curating by doing this, and I often vote on things that are two days old so that also decreases curation, but I see this price dip as a growth phase of steem. A chance to support new users with good content and to help them build toward the minnow level and then toward the 1000SP level.
I do hope you will re-look at your chosen upcoming action and try to bring hope to the new user.

Just my view. You won't make as much steem in curation rewards, but there will be more people to use the services of the other dapps such as d-tube, e-steem, partiko, and all the others, if they feel others appreciate what they have to offer. Getting started is not an easy thing on steemit or in any social media situation. Getting people to stay with steem blockchain is not an easy thing to do either. There are impressions, then there are impressions. Good, and bad. People mostly remember the bad. I would have to go and look for what my first really good experience was on steemit, not so with the first bad experience with less than 6 weeks on the platform getting flagged for asking a question of @ dan how he made small font. The flagger thought it was to far off topic of the post.

A great message. I myself have invested fiat into steem. I’m currently sitting at about 550 steem about 500 of that was originally fiat . At the moments buying another 450 steem is just not an option.
But I definitely agree we should all be accumulating steem as fast as possible before it is hard to get.

I must say that people pay great attention to Facebook and other social media for free and like you said, when they come to the knowledge of their attention being worth something, they will definitely desert such places.

The big centralized players will probably create tokens in the future. But this means giving up a piece of the cake, and making their shares less profitable.
Than the shareholders will sell shares and buy tokens. But is this suistanable? Shares going to zero? It will be very hard for them to balance between tokens and shares without killing their share.

Attention economy is actually a two side coin.
The positive side is information requires attention on the top of your palm; while negative side is too much attention can suck the life out of end users just like what Facebook did to all its users now, (along with all mobile apps)

That is one of the point i always used to comvince people to join steem. I always tell them that if facebook can not pay you for your time and data, and there is steemit which will pay you that and can even change your life around, why would you not want to go to steemit. I still think private keys need to be simplified. I've written down my Steem owner key and keep it off-line but the masses are going to find that a hassle and I'm sure there's ways to make it easier and safer. This isn't a problem for early adopters but do we really think the masses are going to be happy with the current system? It puts me off trying to get more people interested in Steem, as I need to explain the importance of keeping that owner key secure and I know most people aren't going to do that properly.

Very interesting, and likely outcome for Steem I think. The attention economy is going to be a bigger and bigger consideration as everything becomes ultra mechanised. As AI's and automated systems take over more of the work humans do, more people will make thier living from blockchain attention mechanisms.
Steem has the potential to completely disrupt and steal fbook/twitter market in the long term. I'm holding on to the 3.5 k I've accumulated through buying and earning for sure. In fact I'm buying more at the moment whenever I can afford to.

I had the idea for youtube well before it existed when I was in college. I consulted my friends who run a website development company and they provided me with the costs to start it up. It was the biggest mistake of my life. Later when Google went public, I was in debt and couldn't buy in. I told my parents that they should buy Google. Of course they didn't because they didn't understand how it was going to be profitable. Then Facebook went public and I didn't jump on that either due to financial obligations. When I found STEEM, I knew that this has the potential to be far better than Google, Facebook, or YouTube. There was no way I was going to miss out on another chance of a lifetime. There is massive value in numbers of users. What blows my mind is how so many people don't understand how or why huge networks of users create value even when the example of Google, Facebook, and YouTube exists as evidence of how it works. This time around, we all own a portion of this business instead of a central corporation.

And yes, if you're a content creator and have a website for which you have a strategy to monetize it without using Steem, holding Steem Power and using it strategically to increase the number of site visitors you get and retention of value-adding individuals through curation can really take you to the next level!

We're always wishing to have a 1k steem to all Steemit users if possible.
But it won't happen if we just tell them to have that 1k steem because I guess most new users are poor. If whales will not share or support, nothing will happen, we remain a wisher and dreamer.

@theycallmedan, Attention Economy becoming life changing niche and if we see current scenario and phase then definitely it tells that Attention Economy is expanding and Decentralised platform like Steem putting it's initial steps towards the Flag Raising of opportunities, and in my opinion in near future centralised platforms will be forced to compete with Decentralised Ecosystem and may be we can see Centralised Crypto Platforms. Great article @theycallmedan total agreement, this platform has opened me up to so many like minded people as well that are willing to collaborate and help out. I believe once people really start grasping that this is the evolution of social media where you can get paid back for your attention. I don't remember which gojillionare media guy that quoted the phrase "content is king" but that will be a huge way the future evolves as well I think as we move closer to technologies that produce a greater abundance. I'm pushing for that abundant future. I hope be all become independent and resilient people leaving the current system behind to lead others into a more cooperative positive future.

I've been Blogging in Steemit for over a year now and slowly grew with my small group of Steemit Community. I've been posting regularly and managed to reach 500 SP recently, and keeping some liquid Steem and SBD. I guess it will take me another year to reach 1000 SP. But its been a fun journey all along. The biggest regret I have is during those times where powerdowned my sp. If not only for the sake of my family and to the food that I can offer to them, I wouldn't power down at that time. I felt so helpless because I myself knows that steem will be huge in the future.
