Guide: Upvote-Calculation with SBD & STEEM for @smartmarket

in steem •  7 years ago

Yes, when the total value of rewards is taken into account, SBD will make up 75% of the total autor rewards. (or in fact even more, as the Steempower part of the reward has actually decreased drastically in relation to the increase in the market value of Steem in the past few weeks) .

But just to quote from the above post again :

'A 3.8$ value would result in 2.85$ after curation and then in:

2.14 SBD
0.713 STEEMPOWER
Which converted in USD is: 22.612 USD'

Basing your calculations on these figures would still be incorrect.

You still have to divide the actual $ reward figure 50/50 in order to calculate the real value of the reward correctly.

ie the after curation $2.85 figure divided by 2 is 1.425

So, using current Steem/SBD conversion figures 1.425 SBD x 2.7 = 3.85 Steem value

While with the Steem power part of the reward, you won't actually get 1.425 Steem, this part of the reward seems to be designed to give you $1.425 USD worth of Steempower : ie. 1.425/3.20 (this is based on steem price of $3.20 as per your example, but would actually be based on value of steem when the 7 days is up) - so approx 0.45 Steempower is what you'd get.

So taking the steem value of both parts of the author's reward, we get :

3.85 Steem + 0.45 Steem = 4.30 Steem x $3.20USD = $13.76USD

This still results if a loss of over $2 USD if the user paid 5 steem for the upvote.

(nb. only reason the reward is actually lower than the $14.90 USD I gave in example last night is due to me using the current SBD/Steem conversion rate of about 2.75 instead of 2.97)

Btw, I paid 3 Steem for an upvote from smartmarket last night and received a $2.13 upvote in return

So after curation, my upvote will really be : $2.13 x 0.75 = $1.60

Divide 50/50 to get : 0.80 SBD and (0.80/3.20) = 0.25 Steempower

So 0.80 SBD x 2.75 (conversion rate) = 2.20 Steem plus the 0.25 Steem = 2.45 x $3.20USD = $7.84 USD , and I effectively paid 3 x $3.20 = $9.60 USD for this vote, which means this vote actually cost me $1.76 USD!

Just to reiterate my main point, you say the author reward is about 75% SBD right now, that doesn't mean you use 75% instead of 50% when calculating the SBD part of the payout!

Just wanted to mention, I also used upgoater votebot yesterday, and for a 2 Steem payment, I received a vote for $2.10, as compared to 3 Steem for $2.13 from your bot.

Sort Order:

You have complete thought error in your calculation. First of all:

2.13$ Vote minus curation:

2.13 * 0.75 = 1.6$ (keep in mind that this can change depending on when you vote on your post)

1.6 * 0.75 = 1.2$ of this vote is given to you as SBD. SBD is currently worth 9.5$ on Bittrex

1.6 * 0.25 = 0.4$ of this vote is given to you as STEEMPOWER. STEEMPOWER is currently worth 3.3$ on Bittrex.

1.2 SBD * 9.5 = 11.4 USD
0.4 SP * 3.3 = 1.32 USD

11.4 + 1.32 = 12.72 USD

You paid 3 STEEM for this upvote: 3 * 3.3 = 9.9

12.72 - 9.9 = 2.82 USD PROFIT.

'1.6 * 0.75 = 1.2$ of this vote is given to you as SBD. SBD is currently worth 9.5$ on Bittrex'

This is totally and utterly false, it's 1.6 x 0.5 given as SBD.

Do you not look at your own rewards and compare them with the $ author reward amount on the posts??

Also, do you not see the little selection box below where you type with rewards : Default (50%/50%) ?

Also, you may have noticed that your steem power rewards haven't been 25% lately either.....

.

@tomswan

Why are you dividing it by 2?

Author rewards are 75% SBD and 25% STEEMPOWER so divide it like that!

Just to reiterate my main point, you say the author reward is about 75% SBD right now, that doesn't mean you use 75% instead of 50% when calculating the SBD part of the payout!

Yes - it means exactly that! Author Rewards = Rewards the author is getting paid out.
