At first i was bullish about this but now that its reached critical mass were seeing some clear problems that a few others have pointed out. These problems need addressed if this is going to have a longterm future
- So much competition that it's hard to consistently make money unless your a cute girl showing cleavage
- The average person wanting to get paid for using social media doesn't have the skills or lifestyle required to make consistent quality content and as soon as they realize that they end up going back to other platforms.
- Some real quality content is going unnoticed and not getting upvoted enough.
- People want to upvote whats going to make them the most money, not what's the best.
I think these problems will need to be addressed if this experiment is going to succeed.
Give me hope in the comment section. Tell me why these problems won't matter for the future success. I want to believe but its getting harder by the minute.
Sold most of my Steem for now. Until I see these problems taken care of or atleast attempts made to solve them.
I believe this can be fixed but I have no solution on how to do that. I think people are quickly realizing this and thats whats causing the price drop.
One possible solution may be to limit people to 1 blog per day, maybe more blogs per day if they have more steem power? I don't know but i'm not as hyped as I was before it hit the masses.
Ok, when you go to Reddit/Facebook/etc and post something, how much money do you get? Zero, how much do you get for curating? Zero. When you post here, how much do you get? Well, often it might be zero as well, or you might get 50 cents, and occasionally if you post something good you may get 50$ or more. Personally I kind of like getting paid to curate. I could go to Reddit and do it for free, or I can come here and get paid for it.

How much have you gotten paid? i have 386 steem power and ive upvoted popular blogs between 15-30 min of them posting and so far have only gotten 27 cents. Maybe im just doing it wrong. Anyways, you aren't upvoting quality content all the time though. You're upvoting whats making you money which is fine but I wouldn't invest in Steem coins because that's a recipe for failure in the long term. If new people come here and see a bunch of crap on the front page upvoted because people wanted to make money, it's going to just be a place to make money instead of a community with quality stuff as the focus. Pictures of people traveling the world and hot girls getting the most upvotes is horrendous looking and makes this whole thing look like a joke to newcomers and investors. I just know something need to change and quick before people lose faith and the price goes back to 50 cents

I've been up voting things that interest me, generally I don't up vote most of those introduction posts which I'm already pretty tired of. And I don't up vote hot girls trolling for money. I haven't really kept track of how much I got paid for curating so far. It's not that much, but more then the zero I get at Reddit.
I'd really like Steemit to become my new Reddit. We do need to do a better job at tagging posts. In the future I hope to be able to browse "Linux" and see all kinds of cool posts on Linux. I guess Steemit does depend on many people doing the right thing, so in that sense, maybe it's screwed, but I'm still hopeful.

it's not steemit that is not working. it's the users. we don't need introduction blogs because there are too many users to actually care about every single persons lives. if you have a super exciting story, share it but idk man. the more boring stuff i see the less enthusiastic I am. there needs to be a banner at the top of the front page encouraging people to only post interesting, exciting, or funny content. i don't wanna hear sob stories and introductions every blog. BORING.
