I think "most people will treat each-other with respect" simply because that's the type of interaction they want from the other person(s).

In my experience, it is a rare individual that will only respect others under a threat of death. And that's using the term "respect" very loosely.

There still is zero respect from this person (now being held at gunpoint), they are simply feigning respect to save their live ... so they can pounce on your ass as soon as that gun is put down. ;)
