Steem Suggestion - Fiverr (But With Steem)

in steem •  8 years ago

Since I'm not a programmer this is something that's a bit beyond me, but if someone were to take a site like fiverr, but made Steem Dollars the only thing for transactions, I think that we could build a bit bigger of a community around Steem.

For the Blissfully unaware, Fiverr lets people search for and offer services. These can range from videos and written reviews to logos, t-shirts or other fun things. Fiverr profits by taking 20% commission on the transactions.  Someone could easily alter this to be more or less.

As of now, Fiverr accepts bitcoins but hasn't accepted any other cryptocurrency. While its great to see bakeries in germany and coffee shops in london accepting steem, this would open up the doors for others, and allow people to promote their work as actual content on steemit. Like an article someone has written? pay them in steem dollars to write one for you. Enjoy someones photography? Pay them in Steem Dollars for photo sets. Want to sell tshirts online? accept steem dollars for it.

This is likely easier said than done, but having a real place to spend steem, that helps to keep it within the community might be a big advantage towards legitimizing steem in the eyes of others.

A steem marketplace if you will. Very well could be the next step in the growth of steemit.

Yeah, Steem/steemit is still young. But if there is direction that it can go, I think that this is already a proven market and we obviously have a lot of the talent here for it already. Just needs the proper platform.

If this can be set up, maybe make it so that 20-25% of the amount charged goes into steem power. So a $10 transaction would be $8 steem dollars and $2 worth of steem power.

Very interesting thought! As this site is very community based, as are most Cryptocurrencies from the the thought of it, it'd work well. Be interesting to see if the site, or anyone works on developing this.
