Why do we Steem?

Sweet friends,

The last week this thought (Why do we Steem?) kept spinning around in my mind.

I joined this lovely community about 1 month ago and I have read really a lot of posts so far. First of all, let me thank all of you for writing all these great stories! Many times I was really inspired by them.

But... I keep wondering if we write because we want to share our stories and inspire people, or whether we just hope to get as many upvotes and profit as possible. I do understand that this is the groundbreaking innovation of Steem, but, I must honestly say, I don't really support it. Well, not in its current form, to be correct.

Any system where people act in order to gain a reward somehow kills of genuinity, i.e. acting with the sole purpose of helping. That is what I stand for and what I try do to in my life. And that is why I will keep posting on Steem. I'm but a shrimp, so I don't have to worry about getting rich here. But I don't care. All I hope is that my posts will inspire people, the way your posts have inspired me.

Friends, don't get me wrong. This post is not meant to judge you. It is just my honest feeling about the idea behind Steem.

Hugs!
