This is where I see Steem and Steemit in the next 5 years.
2018
- Steemit and other Steem based platforms will continue to see growth in number of users.
- Potential celebrity endorsements could double or triple user volumes overnight (There will be a registration time bottle neck).
2019
- Registration bottle necks will be resolved.
- Steemit will be widely recognized and more public figures will start appearing.
- Facebook will start to lose it's shit.
2020
- By this time it is hard to think that at least some if not most celebrities use Steemit in one way or another.
- Steem marketplaces, allowing artists and celebrities to market their products will start becoming common place.
2021
- Steem will have numerous sub-platforms allowing trading of goods, selling of products, and even crowdfunding.
- Many mini-apps and bots will be available to make the platform more versatile.
- Some news channels & publishers will begin looking into Steemit as a revenue source.
2022
- Steemit will replace all other social media platforms as a prominent player.
- There will be sub-apps built on the platform that emulate existing popular platforms like Twitter, Instagram etc.
Let's make it happen.

This is what I think a future for Steemit could look like. It will take all of us to build a stronger community and continue to promote this platform. We are fundamentally different then other platforms in that we are able to continually change and evolve to meet demands of the modern market.

I see this to be a very realistic, if not very conservative prediction. There is no way I could assign a dollar value, but you could take the market cap of the top corporations, sum them up, and divide them by the amount of Steem available at the time. I also believe that operating costs are much lower for decentralized systems.

Facebook's market capis now 500 billion. If steemit were facebook 1 STEEM would be around 2000 USD
