How do you like DLive now?

First of all thank you for your article @heimindanger

I'll try to share with you my position on DTube and DLive, then you do what you want with it but know that I'll be honest in my comments.

Personally I love DTube, the interface is clear and similar to Youtube which is good to try to get out of the very GAFAM YouTube :)

Well on the other hand there is something wrong and that's why I only posted one video and this to have my own opinion. A large majority of the videos on DTube do not load, they are infinite loads it is VERY frustrating, there are so many exclusive videos that I would have liked to see unfortunately they lost it forever. It is sad to destroy the content of authors, they spend a lot of time there, it is not to "erase" them.

So yes personally although I prefer DTube, I post the majority of my videos on DLive because at least low of the time they were there our videos FUNCTIONAL and this in a sustainable way.

Now, always in the spirit of transparency with you, I will react to your comments.

"Now, I'm not sure if this post will get a lot of visibility or not, but tell me guys, why did you trust these liars despite all the warnings the good users gave you? Why did you work for them for upvotes? Why do you believe any lie you see? Because you are GREEDY."

So as I told you above, it's the fact that the videos that some people probably spend hours or tens of hours creating are non-functional, a bit like when Youtube blocks videos. So we should think together to ensure that NEVER content is DEATH out of respect for the author.

"If you don't feel confident in your judgement, and if you used DLive in the past especially, here are the recommended steps to avoid getting used by the manipulators inside this network:"

"Never click Trending/New/Hot/Promoted categories"

Including New in it is like attacking newcomers and ignoring them, I find it despicable when we know that motivated creators no longer post because they feel ignored despite the quality of their posts. But then, if no one goes to New anymore, how will the new ones get hearing?

That's it, I shared my feelings at the time, I did it on the spot with emotion, but the intention is there.

In any case I don't think the Steemians follow DLive, for my part they can go fuck themselves:)

Sorry for my english, sometimes I have to translate some things that I don't really know how to explain or understand.

Well written. That's how I see things, as well.

Hey @voltagrou =)

heimindanger is not able to do magic. Storage is expensive and has recurring costs. You have to keep in mind that DTube is not playing any ads. YouTube takes a big cut of all earnings the youtubers make to store videos. https://vid.me failed, DTube can grow because of IPFS.
IPFS is not centralized like YouTube, everyone can create a IPFS Node and host videos on there. If creators take a small cut in their earnings and host a Node, the problem is solved. The costs grow continuous with new videos made. But thats how it is. We may see some futuristic data saving methods which are cheaper someday, but not right now.

The idea is in my opinion to make something unique, decentralized. If everything is centralized at DTube, there is much more work involved. You have to manage the hard drives, swap them if there is something corrupted, have backups of everything in hand. And this is growing with every video uploaded. Its simply too much and not the thought behind decentralization IMO.

The problem is that the vast majority of people earn so little that they will publish their videos at a loss. While some users have big rewards for low quality and low cost content. We should better reward those who spend time making quality content.

For my part, I don't pretend to include myself in it, but many videos on DTube have disappeared from DTube just because the person hasn't received enough reward.

So on DTube the advantage is to be remunerated, but if you have to pay in addition to not earning anything it is not viable. This will not attract anyone but large whales.

I'm not sure I was clear about my feelings, in which case I'm ready to go into more detail.

What we'd need logically, the way steem is designed, is an incentive for witnesses to run IPFS nodes and pin files which hashes have been referenced on the chain. Just counting how much storage they are benefitting to the network would be enough to make me choose my witness votes :) But that's not going to happen :(

But yeah of course we understand your feelings, it's sadly just impossible for us to start pinning all the files indefinitely, it would just stack up and increase our maintenance and costs over time.

We've improved our storage strategy greatly in the last patch already, and I think tech evolves quickly and these issues will be overcome with time, in a natural way, with users holding copies of their files on their own devices (pc or phone).

Storage is getting cheaper and cheaper. Today it's easier than 1 year ago to run IPFS nodes without your bandwidth getting destroyed and starting pinning files. There's even some legit UIs where you don't need to be a hacker to use it. Also, usually the content creators need to keep copies of their source files (most youtubers do that), so why not keep them in IPFS directly and hit two birds with the same stone?

Anyway, as you say over time it's going to get easier to hosting files.

So thank you for your comment I remain attentive to the next evolutions.

And good luck to new users, I don't know how they can get noticed at all. Need to fix the bidbot issue for new users to be able to enjoy this network again.

Do something like Steemhunt does?

Videos not loading? Please... Stop re-using the same things over and over against DTube without checking it out. Last patch greatly improved our storage capacity and we hold videos on IPFS for MUCH LONGER than 1 week currently.

Also, how the hell do you imagine a file loads? Do you expect us to hold your video on our servers indefinitely? We can't do that. Any project that will promise that to you is lying to you.

Decentralized means in the end, its the users who are responsible for keeping their files online. If you disagree, stay on Youtube TBH

I have tried loading videos to DTube 10 different times, most recently 2-weeks ago. Of those videos, one loaded properly. The others all timed out on the site before they could load them. The site asked me to login again after the video loaded before I could publish and when I logged in the video was not saved as a draft so I had to start over. None of the videos were longer than 10 minutes. Very frustrating and so I did as you suggested and used YouTube instead. I would prefer to use DTube but not if I can't load a video.

When was the last patch out of interest? I tried DTube last week and I couldn't get videos or live streams to load from home, no issues on my network at the time, ta!
