Which witnesses are voting for the minnows?

Using SteemData and steem-python, WitnessWatch has analyzed every vote cast by the top 30 witnesses on the Steem blockchain. The chart below shows the average reputation of all of the authors that each witness has voted for. The reputations were weighted by the total number of votes each author received.

Note: This is calculated based on each authors current reputation. It is likely that at least some of these authors saw a rise in reputation after being voted on by witnesses, so please do not make the mistake of drawing a definitive causation out of this correlation.

                    It depends on the witness, but their witness income comes from rewards for processing transactions on the blockchain.

                                  Is this data including all upvotes they've made since starting their accounts? At first, I was shocked to see so many witnesses voting for themselves, but if they've just upvoted their own posts (not comments) over a long period of time, the figures don't look so bad.

                                    Hi @penston, great question. Yes, this data includes every vote they've ever cast. There was a time when you automatically upvoted your own post when it was submitted, so some of these votes would have occurred as a result of that.
