Poloniex steem deposits/withdrawals still not sorted!

Anyone know what their issue is?

Is it difficult to sync. a node?! :P
(I'd happily vote for any witness who has tried to reach out to them!)

Was hoping to buy and power-up some more STEEM sometime soon.. ;) (of course, there is Bittrex, but liquidity isn't so good!)

(On the upside, however, i got to post this meme. Another one crossed off my list :P)

Haha...very clever :D

That I am. Lol. How did it turn out? Still having issues? I mostly use bittrex.

Hehe... nice one :D

I bought some on Polo. Then decided I should buy some on bittrex so I could actually withdraw it. So now I have probably bought too much for right now! :)

Yay! Twice the fun! One can never have too much steem. Or steem power.

Haha ... funny/scary when you have a lot of steem power!

Why funny/scary?? I for one am looking forward to having lots and lots of sp! 1. Curation rewards. 2. The joy my upvote will bring to creators of quality content.

More $$ for everyone!

That's the theory and that's why I'm still trying to increase my position slightly... because I'm hoping it's a good investment (and possibly I'm getting a bit addicted to the power of the platform - which isn't a good reason to make decisions!)

But it's still a very risky investment!! And, there could be technical issues, e.g., can it scale with the increasing number of users (I have no idea.)

I was in bitcoin when it lost 80% of its value. Litecoin lost something like 98% of its value in the previous bubble. And STEEM lost something ridiculous last year like 95% of its value (I had some, and it was easily my worst performing asset! :/ ). This was before they dramatically reduced the inflation schedule.

So since I've got around $250k in it at the moment I wouldn't be too overjoyed about loosing 95% of this value! But it's something you have to be prepared for if you invest in crypto (or even shares in regular companies - Nokia springs to mind!)

Anyway, clearly I'm hoping it's a good investment opportunity but as I say anything in this space is still very risky (particularly in the case of SP, because it's completely locked up).

On the other hand, I've been pretty amazed at the amount of extra SP I've earned (I.e., that my position has increased by) in just a few weeks. Something like 1%, just holding SP (the interest you get), posting a couple of memes, and clicking on theupvote button!!! :D I can't really think of an easier job! ;)

Well I kind of already gave up using poloniex, I really dont feel secure using it after in the very day I needed to make a trade the steem and steem dollar wallet was disabled, after that I'm using only bittrex.

do you really think it is still worth to use poloniex ?

great meme...made me laugh. Re: Polo...my thoughts exactly.

I've read that bittrex has a really solid team behind it and it has always worked fine for me. I suggest everyone to give it a try if poloniex isn't working.

I had the same feeling towards the Poloniex, I'm not making any trade yet but I'm afraid it could turn the wallet unavailable while my money is in there, and It could cause it to be lost.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Unless you want to buy pretty large amounts e.g. $50k or more in one go ;) I'd definitely recommend bittrex over poloniex. And anyway buying anything on poloniex right now is pretty pointless since you can't do anything much with it.

Couldn't have put it better!!! :D

Yesterday the liquidity on bittrex was pretty bad but today it was a bit better. Provided you don't need/want to buy large chucks in one go, bittrex is way better anyway!

Yes it's been sorted out. I have seen many people posting on it. But the way people are giving negative review about it, i am planning to shift everything to bittrex.

Yeah, just saw it too.

Plus it was weird, 10 STEEM just randomly appeared in my polo wallet, when it was previously completely empty!
I guess there may have been accounting errors which resulted from the time when stuff wasn't working.
Still, I can't really explain it!
Anyway, sold them immediately for BTC :)

Upvoting for visibility.

Woooo..10 STEEM suddenly appeared?? In that case you are really lucky as i have only heard of people losing in Poloniex.

:)

They suck. someone logged into my account using a Japanese IP address.

Nice to see a post of you. Welcome. What do we have whales or delegates for?
Why dont they go to Mr. poloniex and demand senseful Information and quick solutions. The seemit community is very large and represented by our witnesses. I dont want to blame them, but I wish more support from them.

This issue isn't new, so a few days ago I wrote this:
https://steemit.com/poloniex/@steemit.nemesis/poloniex-please-tell-us-the-year
Having fun with the odds ist the best easing for our pain.

Hi @steemit.nemesis - I like your post. It's way more detailed, whereas this post of mine was actually a bit silly and not directed at the specifics / having a bit of a rant for no good reason! ;)

It's very likely actually that some devs / witnesses have been in touch with poloniex.
Also even if they have had assistance or know what the problem is, it doesn't mean they can instantly fix it. E.g. They might need to completely upgrade their IT infrastructure related to steem in order to cope with recent changes to how the blockchain works, or maybe it's more of a general problem they are having - because several other coins have been temporarily disabled.

As bitshare transfers are also disabled on poloniex, you might be right, because bitshares and steem is based on the same blockchain architectue invented by Dan Larimer.
On the other hand, the problems dont exist on bittrex, neither for steem nor for bitshares.
The fact i complain most is the lack of information. Either they dont give us any information or the given information is wrong. Thats weired.

Agreed.

Thanks for your answer. I hope you are right in the end and we will get back our coins. Meanwhile we have to consider the waiting ime with patience and homour.

It seems to be more places than Ploniex that has issues. OpenLedger reported to have issues with their Steem wallet as well and the option to Deposit/Withdraw both SBD and STEEM is unavailable.

I hope this gets sorted out soon, but rest assured that it's not only Poloniex that has these issues and that means that it will most likely be solved.

Really. I didn't know that. Thanks very much for the info (I think shapeshift as well, recently?)

Would really like to know what the technical issues are though. Hope it's not a fundamental problem with graphene software :/

Do you know if there is there a slack channel or something equivalent where people discuss this type of stuff, hard fork plans, etc?

Will look into voting for you.

Hello, @xaero1
Never I used Poloniex

I use only @blocktraders

Have a great and sunny day

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Good one. But actually I found the poloniex troll box to be the most useful thing around to assist trying to make money out of alts. Without it I'm pretty lost, as now I have no idea why something starts rising, and therefore whether to buy in! I really hope they bring it back :)

I found is good to resteem your post
I resteemed it

Many thanks!

You are welcome
I must thank you for your great support

I understand you .. will be difficult for you without poloniex
I hope they bring it back
Thanks for reply and for your support
Wish you a great day

Lol, I had this issue with them as well I know the rates are a bit cheaper there, wrote a mail to them about a week ago still haven't heard back.

Cool. Well done ... I'm lazy so I just posted here instead ;). Upvoted :)

Poloniex why you do this always ?
giphy.gif

Haha.... nice :). Cheers!

all we can do is cry as their support also dont reply

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Cry, or give up! (Provided you don't have a transaction stuck in the 'ether' :/)

nope hahaha

Their issue is very simple infact. They dont want us to get more cheap steem power under their watch.

Haha.... yeah, either they seem steemit as a competitor - or, they just want all the steem for themeselves :P

HAHAHAHAHA oh god why?
incomprensible_1.png

Yes, I want to know this! :)

I also had a drawback with bittrex.

Thanks very much for your kind words :D

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

lol for the meme. sorry dude I know it is an annoying situation. At least you share memes and make us laugh

Thanks very much :D.

For me, memes are almost more important than whether my trades/investments are making or loosing large amounts of money :P

I have been using coinbase to buy directly off the platforms use of the website blocktrades.

I usually use Poloniex with the platforms blocktrades website as well. It has worked for me. The last time i used it was last week.

good luck to your trades going through!

Thanks.

need more STEEM! ;)

Veru nice
Hi i find you on steemwhales.com and follow you
Need your WELCOME

Thanks!

I'm trying to move up the leaderboard if I can, so that's why I need some more STEEM!

Best wishes.

It's really fcked up you can not withdraw them, just switched to bittrex early enough :D Have a great day mate!

Another sensible person here :). Likewise to you!

Haha, a bit sensible maybe. I just licked the bittrex design more, as i started over here :D

Use blocktrades.us
Great service. No account needed

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Yeah, I just haven't tried them yet because I've no idea what the limits are for a trade (for shapeshift it's pretty low), and what sort slippage there would be. For a traditional exchange, it is easy to discern since you can see the full order book etc.

Great meme..😆

Thanks very much! (I never don't like a compliment :D ;) )

Everyone right now heading to Bittrex:
the floor is poloniex steemit.png

Bahahahahaha!!

The floor was hermaphrodites in my era.

Yeah, as it was heading up today I went to polo and bought some anyway. But then decided i really NEEDED STEEM POWER NOW!! So, I headed over to bittrex and bought yet more there too! ;/

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

I don't think poloniex can be trusted for some time now. I hope all the people receive all their transactions once it's fixed though.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Yeah, hope so.

I just get wanted to get in buy the steem and get out ;) I used to leave a lot of money there, but completely drew that down over the last few weeks.

I think you have to think about the problem and just join Bittrex !!

Thanks yeah I use them...just thought I could get a slightly better rate due to less slippage ;)

Too much volume, too many new users... Hopefully those are the only problems. There has been many people warning about Polo on here until they are able to resolve this problem. Good luck :)

Thanks very much for your comment!

was about to go use polo i think i should make a u-turn....it ant KumbaYe

I stopped using poloniex after they lost my $12 and decided to not reimburse me, however I mentioned what happend in the chat box on Burst Casino and someone sent me $14! But I still aint going to poloniex unless I hear better things about them, seems like a lot of ppl have different problems with them more than any other exchange.

Yeah, they always seemed pretty straight-up to me when dealing with people's issues... but it seems they just got overwhelmed. Maybe their current IT systems just arent cutting it any more with the increased volume - and they need a system-wide upgrade of some sort.

Poloniex is having problem in updating their software and it is still in maintaince .
This will help you @xaero1
https://steemit.com/poloniex/@jerrybanfield/poloniex-crashing-usd67-877-in-unconfirmed-steem-sbd-deposits

Thanks for the info. Although it doesn't really explain what problem they are having. They did enable it like a week ago and i was able to transfer some STEEM out. But within a day it was disabled again. Can't really understand what problems they could be having since they must be easily the richest exchange around based on their trading fees over the last year. And I personally have hadn't had many problems with them when their deposits/withdrawals are operational.

Yeah! I think steemit and poloniex are having some issues reagarding their contract or something and they're not giving the dates also. Everytime you see a notice will be blinked that under maintaince !!

Can I get your help? @xaero1

Unfortunately, if I could help I wouldn't have made this post! :(
I was seeking to find out if anyone else knew - e.g. a witness.
How about posting your question to @sc-steemit, who replied somewhere in this thread - perhaps they could help.

But there is still the option of just selling any of the problem alt-coins on poloniex such as STEEM for bitcoin, and just transferring that out to another exchange such as bittrex.

Thank you so much @xaero1

hahaha
great post @xaero1
very awesome, i like it

Thank you :)

only using bittrex!!

Sensible person ;)

Me too actually already...

Polo is kind of a strange recently, naturally, I like the exchange the most because of liquidity, but I have stopped to use it because of all negativity that is spreading through the internet about their issues.

Agreed.

I really like your post @xaero1, very useful. I hope we can be friends

Would like to, and thanks!

Very good, very useful for the beginner. Hopefully we can be friends @xaero1

Thanks very much - would like to.

es mejor bittrex??

Yes I recommend bittrex over poloniex at the moment.

P.S. Thanks for your comment ... and I had a quick look at your blog . Following you :D

Thank you! I follow you too

Thanks :D

your post very awesome @xaero1

Thx for the post. Poloniex is getting worse each month. We all need to go to decentralized exchanges. And maybe when more and more oeple leave they wake up and some users who didn't go to another exchange benifit that their eyes opened..

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Decentralised exchanges are a tough technical challenge. There is bitshares for example but it still requires a gateway such as open ledger to issue the IOUs on the blockchain.

Maybe for all coins which support lightning network functionality, so-called 'atomic swaps' might be possible - but I don't know much about technical details of this.

However i would expect decentralised exchanges to be possible on the ethereum network if you just need to trade ERC20 tokens against Ether. I think this can be trustless because the trading engine would just use smart contacts on the ethereum blockchain. I don't know if EtherDelta is decentralised, but I'm thinking something like. But I could be wrong about how possible this is.

Yeah i agree, the technical details for crypto and smart contracts are really difficult to understand. Actually I think there are really a few people in the world who really can build and understand it. But fact is that cenralised crypto exchanges feels the same as current normal bank nowadays. There will be a time we also don't need them anymore. Both centralized banks and crypto exchanges.

It's unfortunate, poloniex used to be my 'go to' exchange. I'm not sure what their issue is but looks like they're having trouble with Ethereum too now. I wish steem was on more exchanges.....only a matter of time though since we all know how awesome steem is and sooner or later more people will figure that out and it will appear on more exchanges too.

Hopefully Poloniex sorts out their issues soon though...I'd still like to use that exchange for all steem stuff if possible

Just use bittrex, I suggest. I bought a bunch of steem on polo earlier today. Then I decided I wasn't prepared for them to fix their IT -- I needed to power up more steem now!! ;). So I just transferred more bitcoin to bittrex bought there, and sold the steem I'd previously bought on polo.

Plus bittrex now offers better opportunities to make money trading now as they keep adding new coins while polo doesn't. And it's newly released coins where most often the big increases are right now from what I've casually observed recently (not scientific).

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Haha...you are going to rule the steemit world pretty soon with all your powering up!!! That's awesome :)

Yeah, I think I will have to move over to bittrex soon...just kind of attached to poloniex but they need to get their act together or more people are going to go. I'll give them a bit more time but if it takes too long, I'll have no other choice.

Yes, for sure, the newly released coins definitely offer the greatest opportunities right now. Did you get in on EOS yet? You have a whole year to buy if you haven't yet, but I got in on the first day and it's already up by like 300% or something. That was one of my best purchases ever so far and it stands to get a LOT better!

Yeah, I went a bit crazy there with buying that extra SP. Reason being last year i was really amazed about the potential of the platform but missed out on the mining phase through not making the extra effort...so had zero steem when all the whales were set. So it was a bit of a pipe dream to see if I could slowly move up the rich list by trying to buy small amounts when I could. Anyway, that extra amount there really concludes that dream because it got me just into the top 100 at #99 :). I think it's very likely I will regret it because, I wasn't doing it for technically reasons. Anyway, right now I'm thinking 'screw it', I've been having so much fun on this platform, it's worth it anyway, whatever happens! ;)

Great to hear you got a nice profit from EOS!

The thing is that they had such a different and novel way to do the ICO. And, because they were doing it in a way to try to make it as fair as possible, a lot of people were thinking that the potential for Instant profit when it got listed was not so high. I would have liked to buy a lot more of it, but for this reason went for a lower amount than I would have done otherwise... around $15k. So still a nice profit, but I had more I could have put in. Sold around 20% to make sure I got some profit out of it, and will now just let the rest ride, I think!

Anyway, thanks a lot for your very kind comments - and I wish you the best with your investing strategies!

That's awesome that you got into steemit so early though....I so wish I found out about this a year ago. I can understand where you're coming from though....knowing about it in the early days but feeling like you missed out because you didn't mine when all the other early folks did. Good to hear you've caught up now though and huge kudos to you for making into the top 100! I think there's like close to 200,000 steemit accounts now....so that's no small feat at all!

Only time will tell where it goes and whether you made an awesome move or big mistake....but I tend to think people who got in early here won't regret it....and that includes getting in now since it's still early days.

Well, I didn't actually sell any EOS yet....so no realized profit as of yet but the value jump from when I bought was a nice, unexpected surprise. My plan is to stay in for the mid to long-term (a couple years at least). I'm not a day trader and prefer to take longer positions on any cryptos I invest in. Sounds like you did really well so far on EOS, so good for you!

Thanks, and all the best to you too in your continued crypto investing :)

Thanks a lot for your comment.

I hold a proportion of my portfolio as long term investments. Mostly ERC20 tokens that will hopefully pay some sort of return eventually (like GNT, REP, but loads more). This is unlike mined 'currency' coins such as bitcoin, etc which won't pay out any return but where you hope to gain value through adoption and functioning as an actual currency.

The other part of my portfolio is for trading only. So I'll buy BTC/ETH/ or any of coin when I think it's going to rise, and sell when I think it may have reached a top. (Of course, about half the time I'm wrong...but that's the objective! ;) )

But what's my favourite digital asset right now, and biggest investment: that would be steem power :) Why? Well, it's fun to have a good holding as it gives you a nice influence/power in the system (of course!)..which something like BTC does not provide! ;). Secondly, since I've actually been using steemit for the last few weeks I'm pretty amazed at the return. A nice percentage increase ..... and all I have to is click on the upvote button, and possibly make a few silly posts ;). Nice way to earn an income I'd say (provided the value doesn't completely tank!) :D

Looks like you've got all your bases covered then with both longer and shorter positions.

Yeah, it is super fun.....and of course addictive....in a fun/obsessive kind of way :) This whole steemit thing to some degree reminds me of a game where I'm not actually thinking of taking any money out...I just wanna convert it all to steem power to keep getting more of it....lol. That's why I don't think this system will ultimately fail....I think this is more addictive than Facebook, but in a good way that can give you a return on your investment.

I never thought about becoming a blogger before...until steemit of course....and now I'm like...all in and blogging about just anything I can think of that would be valuable. It's funny how just a little reward system like that can be so motivating...lol. Anyways, steem on and I'm sure I'll be chatting with you again at some time in the near future on future posts :)

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Love your comments.

And it's great to hear from another 'believer' in the investment aspect. Sometimes I do wonder myself though if the whole thing actually makes sense (I.e., are the payments sustainable/will they be enough/etc)! I guess no one really knows - it's a complete new and original experiment! But anyway, I'm pretty much fully committed now :)

And actually, I'm the opposite of a social media person, so it's completely weird for me...in fact I'm a bit exhausted with a few weeks of it :-) Still, I keep coming back now to see what's happening! Primarily I was into it for the tech and investment opportunity ... anyway, I'm trying to lean how to approach the social aspect in in some sort of vaguely sane way if possible :)

Best wishes :)

Sbd down :( @xaero1

If I understand the system correctly (but I could be wrong), the whole point of SBD is that it should always be worth around $1 and/or at least should not generally go much below $1. If it's valued around $1, then it means it's actually working as designed!

In that regard, it's different from most other cryptocurrency where people buy them because they think the value may appreciate over time. If that's what you're looking for, and want to invest/speculate on the growth of steemit platform, then STEEM POWER (or just STEEM, but this is not quite so good) would be what to consider. But if you hold steem/SP then your investment will have the possibility of going down a lot as well the possibility of going up in value.

In fact that was the whole point of SBD...you should be able to keep your money in it and avoid much of the risk. But beware that the fair value of SBD is supposed to be exactly $1, so any time it becomes worth more than this it is quite likely that over time it will correct and trend back to being worth around $1 again! :)

Thank for information,wait next post @xaero1 :))

Bittrex is the solution till poloniex resolves its issue..

Seems to be.

bittrex is the solution

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Yeah, seems to be.

But if they were to run into problems too ... then it wouldn't be looking too good for the steemit tech. :/

I still learn english
But, I Like ur post :)
I follow u :)

Cheers

Nice post @xaero1
Awesome

Poloniex had serious issues in the last month or so. They were blaming SIA dev team and right after they announced it wasn't their fault, it's all on Polo. I wouldn't trust them with a single cent after all these issues. Especially after the payout issues.

Seems to be working a bit better right now - steem re-enabled, less lag (though maybe that's just because loads of users have deserted ;) ). But apart from outages, I've not had many problems with them. But I'm less inclined to store too much funds with them at the moment; also, trading opportunities are very much reduced from several months ago i think.

I has resteem your artickle
@xaero

Thanks very much!

Very good👌

kkkkkkkkkkkkk

:)

Hey my man, nice to see you again! Hope you had some great week. Here is my thinking about the topic. I guess there could be a market manipulation, while many people stuck with their order and poloniex won on liquidity i think.

https://steemit.com/steemit/@besteulz/price-manipulation-poloniex-technical-issues-with-steem-and-steemdollar-holds-on

There is the post i wrote yesterday, to underline my opinion and my statement. I just prefer bittrex for trading, was my luck, while this ,technical issue' ... About the bittrex liquidity, i had no problems buying steem yet, but ofc sometimes a order takes on a bit longer..

See you!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Thanks. Unless there's hard evidence about manipulation, i don't like to jump to conclusions... but who knows - probably could never prove anything one way or the other. That's one advantage of a DEX such as open ledger, since manipulation should not be possible unless their is collusion by the bitshares witnesses.

you will run straight into the wall on polo.. switch to bittrex or cryptopia, but prefer rex, take your money and run brother?!

Not sure what you mean exactly - everyone has to make their own trading decisions? My post was simply that I would like it if poloniex could get steem deposits/withdrawals working again. As they have now, I'm now using them again, incidentally.

I also have steem at Poloniex that I would like to power up It seems to be taking way too long to fix

Yeah. I bailed/gave up and went to bittrex :)

Very very very nice post... I think idea your information the best for me
