There are 2.01 billion monthly facebook users. Facebook was created to attract a younger audience to communicate in various ways. As years went, facebook has changed the human communication system. Years ago, in the 1800’s people communicated through letters. Nowadays people communicate through social media. Communications involves photos, statues, likes and very little one on one connection through direct messaging. The movie “ The Social Network” explores the different types of human communication skills. Social media has a impact on today’s society.
The movie” The Social Network” showed that in a matter of seconds the human communication was corrupted. In the beginning of the movie there’s a scene where the main character Mark Zuckerberg was dumped in front of the bar and in a way he thought of a idea to get a reaction from his school by embarrassing his ex girlfriend. Making a website for the university to vote certain girls over the other and his ex was one of them. He knew he would get a better response online other than being in public outside or in the bar. This is a connection to the text of the action model which consist of the source, the encode, the message and the channel. In this scene he was the source . He needed to think of a way to connect with his university to show that he was upset. Once he thought of a idea, he needed to encode it, he needed to put it in a form of language and gesture to connect with the students. Then he created a message for the students to pick a better looking female over the other. According to the action model the last step is the channel stage. He created a pathway to send his message. Sending the website to the whole school through the internet knowing that he would get a better response with embarrassing people.
In contrast, The scene where Mark’s best friend Eduardo found out that Facebook was possibly stolen from 3 Harvard students. This scene connects to the interaction model from the text. Mark was so into creating Facebook that he forgot to tell Eduardo about everything that took place between the 3 Harvard students and himself. The scene shows that now mark has to explain to Eduardo what happened and Eduardo is confused and ready to get answers from Mark which takes us back to how it connects to the interaction model.
