This is my homemade gingerbread with sugar glazing that I'm making every Christmas for my family. It's a tradition, there's no Christmas without homemade gingerbread. Christmas is a special occasion, a beautiful event that must be celebrated with you family and loved ones.

My mother's birthday is on December 16th, and I remember her saying that as a child her family always put up their Christmas tree on her birthday, and it was such an unusual thing because no one else had their tree up until on Christmas Eve. I think I would enjoy Christmas more if it was celebrated for a much shorter time.

This year for our 4 year old sons advent calendar we have been putting random Lego pieces in to the draws, and his challenge each morning is to make a new creation from the bits. As you can see his two creations so far are wonderful... and no chocolate in sight - he loves it!
