I think we can increase 10 fold from here. The race has started to get the scarce SBD and to win you need as much Steem as possible to "mine" it. I think it's not only SMT that will create a much bigger demand for Steem but also the fact that people are starting to see the superior technology behind The Steem blockchain ! There are thousands of coins out there but only a handful with Comparable technology that Steem has.

Predictions for Steem 2018 - That's really a hard one..

I know what Id like to see happen and that will probably bias my answer a little bit..
In terms of cryptocurrency value - and the recent shift into STEEM buying over selling - I think a moderate to safe bet would be $4-5 - also assuming Bitcoin does not fall below

Steem's ultimate success in the critical 2018 year is dependent on the few powers that be and can make executive decisions and also the community of Developers to make things happen and the regular user to promote and recruit solid new community members

I predict that steemit will have over a million users! I think the price of Steem will go up to around 4-5 dollars and we will see many people leave the ratrace 9 to 5 jobs and go full time steemit. I also think we will see a few real life celebrities and we'll known artists come over to the platform and that's when the real Steem bomb will go off and we all become millionaires! :-)

I predict a lot more ingenuity by the steem members. I am super impressed by the applications people have developed for this platform like the auction system and other bots.

One other thing I've been noticing recently is more and more of my searches are showing steemit posts in the top page of google results. This is great for our platform. Hopefully more and more of the best content becomes indexed and presented as authoritative sources of information for people searching for content.

Of course SMTs and communities will give a great boost to steem's price and will encourage the ecosystem to grow. What I think will really help the steem blockchain to shine is the fact it can handle a lot of activity with ease as opposed to ETH and BTC. The crypto kitties mania has proven the limitation of the ETH blockchain and smart investors will take note.
Another big driver for growth will be content creators like youtubers who are sick of youtube demonetizing their content for no good reason and relying on patreon for a steady income stream. I've seen even bigger youtubers ( 500.000 plus subscribers ) resort to patreon donations. Dtube and Dlive once they mature will certainly appeal to many struggling content creators.
With that being said I expect at least a x10 price increase. We shall probably see steem's price between $20 and $100 in a year's time.

With the introduction of Smart Media Tokens, the awareness of Steem as a viable token (3 second transactions + no fees) and with so many projects promoting Steem to the world (Sndbox / Utopian / etc.), there's no doubt great things are coming for Steem. Hopefully the value of Steem will go up along the way as well.

I'm looking forward to further delegations to curation guilds (@ocd), spaminator and other awesome projects on the Steem blockchain that would encourage a growing userbase to keep themselves active.

I'm also constantly promoting Steem in my articles (1, 2) on my personal blog and they gets thousands of page views a day (around 150k a month). Hopefully the investors will understand the potential of Steem and we'll be the big thing in 2018.

Steem will grow up in value in 2018 there is no question about it. I am really glad to see it for the moment a bit over two usd.
All will depend at the end of the day of all of us, how active we will be and how much value we will bring to the platform by posting quality content.
For sure we will see an increase number of sign ups in 2018 and this will be another factor that will increase the value of Steem.
Smart Media Tokens (SMT's) will be another factor that will give the boost to Steem.
Since i am very realistic in my predictions and after i mention few of the things that will bring the price of Steem up i think at the end of the year we will see it at a stable five usd.
Since them all we have to do is Steem On!

What are your predictions for Steem in 2018?

I've been here since the month of June as what I have observed the platform really went well astounding aside from multiple interactions between awesome Steemit personalities like you @good-karma I noticed in Steemit aside of it is decentralized, Accounts we're created with anonymity which is a good edge to users who wants to hide their identity, one thing also is the TRANSACTION times are near-instant(three-second block times) I can't barely imagine how fast Steem transactions in the blockchain and what I love the most is the TRANSACTIONS ARE FREE thats the best thing I really like in steemit so with that my predictions for 2018 knowing that SMT's will be aired next year there will be a chance for Steem to bull in my opinion knowing Steem transaction capabilities.

And only if they can only change the advertising phrase for steemit into

My predictions for steem for the next year are beyond the vision of the normal eyes and it may touch 100$ very soon if SMTs are adopted the way they are designed it will explode the price like never before any other cryptocurrency has done it.
Why steem is the overpowering cryptocurrency over the others, here are my points to prove it.

You can easily know the username and memorize it, for BTC and ETH it is not possible and that is why everytime we have to copy it and paste. This is a major factor if the transactions has to be made say on a shop or vendors, every time they have to copy the customer's address and send the money to it. This will be very time consuming and it will affect their business.
Next comes the confirmation time, which is almost instant with steem.
The transaction fee is the best part that makes steem very easy to use and no worry to pay some extra bucks.
The security is also very good here at steemit. If you have steem under SP, the hacker will not be able to empty them in just one attempt and has to wait for 13 weeks to get the whole steem power converted to steem. Within a one month we can apply for the recovery of lost account which is not possible with bitcoin or ethereum.

I don't honestly know what this will become but, i hope to see the platform get more addons? like how dtube dmania and the newly released dlive, i hope to see one like soundcloud for us to upload music and another one for gaming, also my prediction for steemit its the growth as when i joined in november we were only at like 350-400k user and today i learned that we hit the 500k mark. another one of my hopes its that whales will interact more with new users since its kinda hard to enter their small circle. right now im my 1 month anyversary i can safetly say i love steemit and all of the community so i hope we can become a larger family. also i think more spanish speaking comunnity will be joining since its getting bigger and bigger in the usa so when something big happens in the americas most of the latinos will be joining. hope you like what you read and have an awesome day.

I think we just need to get people educated. If people knew they could get paid for the things they post I think they'd pretty quickly move over from centralized platforms.

I mean, think of every cosplay whore girl on Instagram. They're getting screwed in terms of rewards for sharing of their content. I predict soon that Steem will be overrun by post-transexual anime fan girls who will have us beat in hair-straighteners and having too much free time.

When we look at different sites, Steemit looks the most like Reddit. Since the interface is much nicer, and Steemit has a reward system that Reddit lacks, I predict Steemit will grow to the Reddit we know today and even further. (and so will steem & steem dollar rise in value)

I don't think Steemit will ever replace a facebook or instagram, because it can't compete with all the functions and well designed interface given on these sites. I do think it will be a nice addition to the current social networks because here is an active community eager to discover great posts!

I've thought about this and I think in the long run this is entirely possible. BitCoin isn't especially, "smart" in terms of the basic requests and transactions it can make in-network. Things like Ethereum and Steem take the same basic idea and extend it to contexts-- so if we think in terms of the robustness of the technology I could totally see Ether/Steem/the like overtaking BitCoin eventually!

With the introduction of Smart Media Token into the Steem ecosystem, I see the value of Steem skyrocketing and becoming more popular with big investors coming into the steem community. In turn, authors and contents creator get more incentives for their efforts.

My predictions for steemit is that it is gonna be the no. 1 social networking site in 2018 as;
People are free to shear anything they are good at they can shear anytype of material and that is being noticed by people all over the world not just the he/she follows or is friends with after redaing the writes get appriciations and comments which encourage them more for joining steemit and doing all this stuff. Moreover the appreciation they get paid for what they post depending upon the quality of the content . My premonitions for 2018:

We currently have 500,000 users, we are going to reach a minimum of 2 million by the end of 2018.
SBD will remain in a range of 10 to 15 dollars and Steem will reach 5-10 dollars.
Steemit will make a big jump in the trade of goods and services using Steem as a means of payment. New applications will bring more users to Steemit by default.

STEEM is going to take off in 2018. The value of a STEEM Dollar will surpass $100 at some point and STEEM itself will be at least $10 by the end of the year. @roelandp will take a bunch of STEEMians somewhere glorious for STEEMFest 3 which will be even bigger and more successful then the last (which is unbelievable!). Why not? We are faster than Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin, we have no internal fees. Besides, we can get a huge boost from growing Utopian activity and introducing SMT.

STEEM rise up to (at least) 10$ ... or maybe 20.... Let's says 20$.
Steem becomes mainstream.
All the media around the world are talking about it. And everybody wants to be part of it.
The communities arrive on Steem and put some order there.
The creators of quality content arrive in large numbers (the real creators of quality content, not the crypto-lovers : I said : mainstream. Even people who don't know what's a blockchain/a cryptocurrency).
And they are finally being rewarded for their work (finally the power is in their hands no more in the ones of the bigs corporate)
The GAFA is crying and starting to be very scared of Steem.
Power is redistributed (the bad whales are sad and leave to find another platform) among the small, medium and large users (well, those with a lot of SP)
Unscrupulous investors get thrown off the platform.
People choose to use Busy (because Steemit is not classy enough for mainstream people).
Dtube start to be one of the main known plateform of Steem and so manyyy big names from Youtube start to join bringing with them their community.
People is the streets start to wear t-shirts with @dan and @ned face. They become like the Savior.

My prediction is that Smart Media Token is going up like a rocket and Steem will reach 5 $. Maybe wishful thinking, but the potential is there.

I will try to answer that question purely from a financial perspective by comparing Steemit it to Facebook. As of today Steemit's coin price is just over two dollars and it's market cap. is just over $500 million. Facebooks share price is $180 with a market cap of just over $500 billion. The coin and share prices are insignificant but the market cap. can be used for comparison. So if we compare the two at this point in time, Facebook is worth about 1000 times more than Steemit. With Steemit's potential and innovative products around the corner, is that relative valuation correct? No way!
In my opinion, Steemit should close the gap to within 100x market cap of Facebook in 2018; growing to $5billion. If that's the case then the price of each coin should increase about 10 fold....putting the coin price at somewhere between $20-$22. Thoughts?

According to me, the year 2018 will be great in the aspect of Steemit Platform. And by the end of 2018, user count of Steemit can be doubled. Thanks for sharing this great contest.
