Steem Alliance Proposals: Show Budget Sources First!

in steemalliance •  6 years ago

Ok, I finally read some (not yet all) proposals for Steem Alliance Foundation Proposals.

I may sound like an accountant, or maybe a Finance Minister, but when you say "we'll do this and that" and paint a great picture, please, PLEASE, show the sources of funds in the future foundation budget.

And please don't say Steemit Inc. and the rewards pool, that's a very facile answer, but I have a strong feeling when it that would go down to actually implementing such a thing, anyone who has such ideas will have a big "NO" surprise, at least on the rewards pool side.

After all, it is only a month or so since the strong reaction the Steem DAO initial proposal to redistribute inflation generated. And I'm pretty sure that discussion will be reopened in the future, because Steem DAO will probably need a continuous stream of funds to be functional on the long term.

Can you imagine if that will be accepted (after the likely new 'drama' would be over, of course) and another entity comes for its own share of the pool?

I doubt any explanations or reason will make any difference.

So, whatever you guys do, propose and choose wisely! :)

No one has stated anything about the reward pool and while Steemit Inc. has stated they are committed to help seed the foundation (if we can pull it together). Many times it has been stated that it must be self sustainable though and therefore, yes.. people need to be thinking about that.

It’s hard to publish and discuss a full budget though when no foundation exists yet. These are all things that will have to be considered and worked through by those involved.

Currently this is all about the structure “idea” the community woikd like to see. We are still in idea phase, figuring out how and what can actually be implemented will come after and will be an ongoing process.

I love ideas. But we need to vote for an idea. Then people need to work with the voted idea and see if they can find a budget to make it work? That seems a little backwards... At least some clear thoughts about the budget should be included in all ideas.

the proposal teams only know that Steemit Inc is probably willing to fund the startup ... however Steemit Inc hasn't given numbers so the proposal teams can't either.

I've not seen any proposal teams suggest the reward pool.

I have, at least as a major delegation from Steemit. Not necessarily a hard re-distribution of the inflation.

And if there is not a relatively clear budget, how can people propose structures involving salaries?

I'm only making some remarks as someone who hasn't been involved in the talks, and on relatively thin research. If any points I raise are being considered already, or I missed something, I'm ok with that.

That would likely be an excellent question to ask any of those suggesting salaries how they would sustain them.

I know some of the proposals are based on volunteers.

The Working Group did their best to leave the options open for those making proposals and hoped the community would give feedback to the proposers on the holes they saw. That is why we did a multi-stage process. If the proposers received feedback they could reconsider and adjust their ideas.

Yes I saw some proposals based on volunteers too.

Hopefully there are a few more days for teams to make final adjustments.

the versions up there right now are the final versions. Voting will start on the 10th and run for a week.

Ah, ok thanks.
