The basic rule of doing good as a speaker (as we know) is to have good sentence structure, pronunciation & clarity.
But what most people worry about is, being judged and that insecurity kills our confidence even before we get on that podium.
Our listeners are not expecting us to be the smartest in the room, or necessary tell them things they do not know.
Giving them value for their time can be from the lessons we learnt, the energy & positivity we spread that motivates them, the intention we uphold that inspires and move them, and the experiences we went through struggles included – that resonates with them.
When planning our content, think about max 5 lessons we want to educate.
For each point, think of a relevant scenario that happened to us (personal experience) that resulted us knowing that lesson.
Our content are unique to us.
No one can listen/grade us, as their experiences are different.
Our stories are ours, and our way of telling it.
People sometimes do judge us, its their nature to but if we speak volume of content that constantly feed them meanings to their present lives, they care less of our physical attribute than dying to pick that brain of ours.
Do you agree? Give us your thoughts in the comment section.
The thing I've found that irritates me the most when I'm listening others is when they lack confidence.
To me, that relates into this feeling that the speaker doesn't really believe in what he or she is talking about, and if they don't believe why should I.
I've seen it on myself also, when I do have to talk about the things I don't really care my performance is way below my standard.
So basically, what I'm saying is don't give public speeches on topics you don't care or believe in ;)
