in steembasicincome •  7 years ago  (edited)

Steem Basic Income is the awesome project that will reward you by assuring you receive a basic income for each of your posts. No more frustrations! As a new member of this project, I would like to sponsor a Steemian and have created a contest. Who will be the first to be sponsored by me?!

First things first: What is Steem Basic Income?

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Design by @Roldamn

I often read Steemians whining and complaining about not getting any upvotes, where they spent hours and hours writing and crafting their posts.

Honestly, I understand the frustration and can relate to that but I am the kind of person that likes looking for solutions rather than just spend time complaining. I have been testing a variety of solutions to make my own posts more rewarded and how to help the Steemians I follow too. After 4 months of being on Steemit, I have now stumbled upon what seems to be the most effective solution: Steem Basic Income!

This interview gave me a great insight:

Inspiring video by @josephsavage: the mind behind the project

So why have I chosen Steem Basic Income as a great solution? I invite you to watch this video and just let yourself understand how cool this project is and why you really want to join as a member:

Let’s make Steemit a place where everyone can have a base level support.’’

There is so much greed on Steemit and if we want this community to thrive, it has to be done in a healthier way. With Steem Basic Income, by sharing with other members Steemians empower themselves and other members of the community. This is the kind of project that gives me faith in humanity!

And so why the contest?!

Ok, so let’s say you’ve read the above and the links (hopefully). Now you are ready to get sponsored by me! And why would you want that??!!

I am a member of SBI thanks to @steemquebec that sponsored me, thank you! And I just delegated 100 SP to @steembasicincome. Therefore, I have 1 share, received 5 bonus shares from delegation of 100 SP, and will be upvoting @steembasicincome regularly, meaning I could potentially receive upvote weight equivalent to 10 shares instead of only 1!

Indeed! I think it would be one of the best projects on Steemit long-term! Thanks :)

My opinion of what makes a community thrive:
A community should be a safe place for young, old and all living things residing there. Respect and concern for all is a great attribute for the vibe of a thriving community.
New members need to be made welcome and helped to establish a place in the community.
The leaders must have the community’s best interests regulated and held to the highest standards.

Excellent opinion @redheadpei. Thank you for entering the contest. Good luck! :)

Thanks @jessicapixie. ☘️

It's incredible that you do ...

Almost every day I create a blog about the community, maybe you can see my blog.
I think that being a developing community is having a community that does no harm at all. Your free time can be used for various activities with friends of the community. And also through these hobbies, ideas, and interests can be the beginning of the formation of the community. The community is not a showpiece, but as a forum to meet and discuss the passion for knowledge to grow. Therefore, a community is advised to have progress so that the benefits of its existence are felt by the wider community.

Really interesting comment @suheri! Thanks for your entry and good luck! :) I'll check out your blog.

Thank Miss @jessicapixie

Hi Jessica and fellow steemians,

I believe for a community to thrive they have to have shared cherished values that is within a sustainable and potentially prosperous economy, with common goals. There also has to be a consensus of members in planning and determining a future of the community. Within this community each member has to be able to capitalize on their personal core assets and contribute to the community. With that said, flexibility and understanding of other peoples opinions will also enable cooperation and growth and finally there needs to be commitment and fortitude in facing the future.

Amazing answer @jgnkelly! Thanks so much for your contest entry and good luck to you :)

@jessicapixie, look at you! So awesome that you have got involved in this. Just what steemit needs! I've got a list of things to write about on steemit and right at the top is community! This couldn't have come at a better time. For me community is about man things, potentially the most important being: contribution. In short, as much as a community needs leaders, and people to look to for guidance, it also needs contribution from as many members of that community as possible in order to not only survive, but thrive. Some people start communities and then want to stand in the lime light and bask in the glory of having founded something. In my eyes that is not the TRUE essence of community. A group of people coming together to contribute towards a common cause, with equal contributions, equal weight to those contributions and equal value. That's what makes a community thrive.

Thanks @yasminep, what a beautiful comment! Good luck :D Let's make Steemit thrive!

Gracias a ti y buena suerte! :)

Hola @thaishps!

It's compactnes in the face of the problem together, but it is rarely encountered, since we have personal robots that could solve some of our basic problems (one of them is communication), here we go too busy with a smartphone each of us, without caring one another, there is the bright side, but will be an effect on the development of society, because we've been through the laws of nature, that human beings are social beings.

I think the answer most appropriate to the discussion in terms of making a developing society is to increase the sense of solidarity and cohesiveness of our fellow human beings to help each other in completing a problem, and respect each others is more important things to.

that's all from me, I hope you could gave me bright side about "life".

Let's being better together

Regards, @mirfaner

Awesome insight @mirfaner! Thanks for your entry and good luck :)

thanks was seeing my entry :)
best regards, @mirfaner

Excellente! Gracias por tu participacion @blessed-girl y buena suerte!

What makes a community thrive? The answer is extremely complex yet perfectly simple: The People. We are the people. It all begins, grows, ends, flourishes, suffers, and starts anew with us, The People.

Thank you @btwbyvw! Short and sweet :) Good luck!

Understanding, understanding and more understanding

Understanding is the greatest skill humans have. Not only do we use it to learn and grow, but it is also essential for helping and healing. It doesn't require a degree or education, it is something which we are all born with but can sadly get lost in the stressful flow of daily life. When a breastfeeding baby bites and hurts their mum they understand and learn not to do it again; it is a look and a feeling, it exists in us before speech. But when a stressed boss humiliates their employee they lose the understanding of the pain they are causing because of their own personal fury or selfishness. Equally, on an intellectual level, crytocurrencies scared many people at first and as this has become gradually more understood it is less overwhelming and consequently more inclusive of all sectors of society. Your post has helped me to understand @josephsavage's dream and is a great example of expansion through understanding.
If our communities are to thrive either online or off line we need to be understanding in every action we take and every word we share.

I have goosebumps reading you @mirriek! Thanks so much for your powerful comment and good luck!

What makes a community thrive?

When you said community it is understood that it is a group of people.
We belong in this steemit community and we have same interests and goals. In order to thrive we must help each other. Community will be flourished if no one left behind. It's like plants which I consider a newbie in this community when you water it regularly it will grow strong and healthy. We should not take for granted to all the newbies here instead we will assist them all the way in their journey here so they would feel they belong in this community. That is why there are mentors here to mentor them. I just hope that mentors don't have favoritism. In this community we really did our best to be known and somehow obtain achievements but most of our posts are undervalued because some of the mentors give much attention to those who already curied.
Just like sir Terry Ajayi said, "Anyone has something to offer." Maybe their time to shine hasn't come yet, no matter what happened we should not stop supporting each other instead inspired them by lending a hand. This community will not thrive when greediness and selfishness only prevail.
This photo is best described to make the community thrive.

Gracias! :)

In my opinion, the most important factors that make a community thrive are communication, acceptance and tolerance. If we look at this world, the biggest community that we all are part of, it is so diverse with so many people having so many different opinions, thoughts and ideas. And the reasons for violation of peace at times revolve around the same three factors: communication, acceptance ad tolerance. This world, the biggest community of all will only thrive if we accept each others' ideas, tolerate each others' opinions and communicate the differences we have and resolve them. There is no second option. And this is not just about the world, this basic principle will make any community thrive.

Those are really strong points I agree on @arbaazshaikh10! Thank you for your comment and good luck!

I know I am pretty late to comment this but I still want to leave a comment on what I believe makes a community to thrive:

I believe that it all comes down to people gathering up with the intention of helping as many people learn and adapt to something they want to learn as possible using the knowledge you have currently and spread value to the people who really wants to learn.

When someone new joins a community, we should always feel responsible to give them a warm welcome and make them feel that they are at home with us. To make them comfortable knowing that we will do whatever it takes to help them succeed in life.

Especially if we know someone is at a roadblock and in depression. Society for many parts of the world can be a very cruel place and many people out there just wants to put you down and tell you that you are not good enough to do the things you want. That can really make a person lose their self-esteem and without anyone motivating them, they may feel loss.

I always believe there are a lot of things in life we cannot do along. If we are a team, if I lack in one department and is skilled in another, the other teammate can fill the void of what the other lacks. That's why I made my Steemit Discord, I am trying to build a community filled with positive people that really can think outside of the box and can really give others and themselves hope for a bright future. :) That I believe as more positve people works together and make sure no one quits, will be required for a community to thrive long term.

Really deep thoughts there my friend! Thanks for your comment. I totally agree :)

No problem! :) I am glad that you and I think alike! :)

A community thrives on selflessness, unified goals, good communication, and vulnerability. The community weakens when communication breaks down and factions emerge. One strength if Steemit is how rare negativity is, which strengthens the community. Thanks for running the contest!

Thanks @giddyupngo! Good luck with you entry :)

What makes a community thrive?
It is love. The association of heart centered love of course. In my observation. The "heart centered" love is the conscious energy that we are and when we are loving we can thrive and participate in a community.
Enjoyed the opportunity to share this idea. Enjoying reading other people's ideas on this.
Good topic. Thanks for posting. Lots of love :)

Thanks @eart! Don't forget to upvote the contest post so I can consider your entry ;)

A community will thrive if there is consistency in what the members signed up for. The values, goals and what the community is about should be upheld by the leaders and members. Expect a few members to leave or be inactive if they could no longer identify with the community because of drastic and unwelcomed changes.

Really interesting opinion @quatro! Thank you so much for entering the contest and good luck!

Contribution,

A community is a group of people, who come together to achieve goals that are nearly impossible to do on their own. When each person contributes their even share of time, effort and work the community progresses forward, however if they don't then conflict is strife within the community which breaks it down.

Thanks @moarafatshow! Great entry :D Good luck!

I registered one of my friends to this SBI initiative out of curiosity, I was glad to know I also received one share myself which is great. I intend to register my other friends too and had been searching for SBI related contests. I mentioned my personal experience because that is how a community thrives. The members are willing to search and try new things for the growth and improvement of their fellow. Diligence and selfless sharing is what would bring a community forward. Thank you for this kind of initiative I know this is another way to help the SBI community to thrive too.

Thank you for sharing @dinglehopper! I totally agree :) Good luck!

To have a growing community, everyone must accept each flaw, race, respect and share the love as a family. By helping each other to motivate, be confident, grow more and flourish based on their own interest or knowledge. Sharing good deeds can strengthen to build a strong community. Cooperating in any activities and believing each other that each one of the members can contribute their own skills, talents, and knowledge for the goodness of the community. In short, a good unity is what makes a community thrive.

Thanks for this contest and have a great day ahead!

Hi @tonie! Thank you for your contest entry :) Who are you quoting?

Oh I'm sorry I quoted it lol!!! Thank you...

Great! Good luck! :)

For a community to thrive I think it would need an abundance of resources.

You've got it right @proto26! Thanks for your entry and good luck!

This sounds like a great initiative and i’m glad people are doing something to make or welcoming for new steemians because it really is hard in the beginning

I think what makes community is the support, more hands make for lighter work and yes that’s true for manual labour but in an informational age more minds make for easier idea generation and refinement so you can get to the best outcome faster! The support a well staffed community can have provides endless possibilities for idea generation and application

Great points there @chekohler! Thank you for participating in the contest and good luck :)

What can make a community thrive is to build community members' attachments by creating an atmosphere of mutual giving and mutual support. When fellow community members emerge need each other then no one wants to leave the community.

Awesome points @beladro! Thanks for your entry and good luck :)

Thx you @jessicapixie, I wish I will get steem basic income :D

This is mean a lot for the community

The community usually build in the same interest so they will gain their goal together, it is hard to gain your goal by your own, you need the community to help you grow. Because basically human being is a social creature, they can't live alone in this world, they need another person to help them. So ! to to evolve the community they will need information, in this matter information is knowledge, knowledge about their passion, and the community need rules and everybody in the community should obey the rules so there is no one in the community doing something outside the community agreement. They can change the rules if the rules is no more relevant for the community. side of that, everybody should work together, because together we can.

Great thoughts @mahlizasafdi! Thanks for your entry to the contest and good luck!

thank you

In my humble opinion, interaction is needed to make a community thrive. In whatever form of interaction — written, verbal, visual (sign language or pictures), whether virtual or reality — a community would thrive. I am not speaking of Steemit alone, but it could very well be applied to. I believe interacting is a key to growing, to learning new things and understanding. But mostly, when we interact, we will be connected with each other and that is what makes a community, a thriving community.

Excellent point @yadah04! Thanks for your entry and good luck!

My oppinion about what makes a community thrive

A community must have a leader whos can objective to all member. Not care about newbie or old member. And must be objective when decide a decision. All of member have a same right to make question or give an answer, all of member must have good connection and relationship with an another. Help an another to grow up together. And also give support to an another if one felling fall down and want give up. As together we can

Beautiful opinion @dwiitavita! Thanks for your entry and good luck :)

Thankyou @jessicapixie

You're genius my frined!! This is such a cool and uplifting project and I'm so impressed with your positiveness. You helped me many times here on steemit!! GOOD LUCK!! I would love to be involved too!! Well now I will have to think about my answer to the question... : D x

You're so sweet @anna-bella, making my daily experience on Steemit a treat :) Alright, so according to you:
What makes a community thrive?

I just discovered @steembasicincome today and sponsored my first 2 friends! I hope to sponsor many more! What a fantastic effort. People helping people is what makes a community thrive. That whole 'the more you give the more you get' attitude. That's the best part about Steem! Resteemed

Thanks @melinda010100! Great job in sponsoring others. I will take the payout from this post to sponsor the winner, my first one :) If you win this contest, since you are already a member, I will transfer you 1 Steem as a fair gift! Good luck!

I think being sponsored a bunch of times is a good thing. One of the people I sponsored had already had three other people sponsor her so my sponsorship made 4 shares for her. I believe whoever wins you should sponsor them, and that gets 1 share for yourself and one for them. I'm new to this so someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Ahhh I see! Thanks for clarifying that! I certainely will follow your suggestion :)

I just bought two more 'shares' for myself and two friends!

lets face it. money. otherwise we'd all be on instagram or pinterest or blogger or ...

Thanks for your comment @incognitoct! Don't forget to upvote the post if you'd like your entry to be considered ;)

My opinion: A community, whether large or small, must have two very important factors for its proper functioning, development and maintenance! Firstly, there is the human, internal, moral and cultural factor, that which allows you to want the place where you are, makes everyone wish to take care of others and themselves, looking for a greater good, with a broad spirit of collaboration, friendship, humility and concern for your neighbors, if the human being were perfect this would be enough, but as we are not, a second factor is necessary , which is a firm and precise legal norm, that allows the members of the community to take any necessary action to continue with its development and correct operation, either due to infrastructure problems, external factors, or especially problems of some internal members of the community.members that can not adapt to the operation of the same, those who do not care, harm, undermine the moral, do not meet the required quotas and end up becoming a burden for the rest of the community. It is my personal opinion and I give it with a lot of respect, if we all want the place where we live, we take care of it and we worry we will have an excellent community!

Muchas gracias, thank you @redencion123! Please make sure to upvote the contest post so that I can consider your entry ;)
