Thank you all for supporting steembattles!

SteembattlesMainPhoto6497c.jpg

I started steembattles as a fun fantasy version of @steemsports with the same format of SP distribution; With the voting taking place on the main post and then voting for the team that you think is going to win. If you voted on the team that won then you get an SP payout reward for voting for the winning team.

The difference with steembattles is that instead of voting on which sport team will win, you will be voting on which character(s) will win. Each series there is two different characters, sometimes from two different universes, clashing against each other. If a person has a particular match up of two characters that they want to see battle each other, then they can tell me in the comments and then there is a possibility I might choose that match up for the next steembattles series.

Here are some of my past steembattles:

Too much for me too handle, not enough time

Recently the amount of people voting on my most recent steembattles I have created have been overwhelming. Up until now I have been manually doing all payouts for the people who voted on the winning side.. The last steembattles that I created took me almost two hours to payout each individual person who voted on the winning side, which was very overwhelming to say the least.

Sadly, I only managed to payout 20 people because the list of people who voted on the comments was to long and I couldn't a see everyone else who vote. So the Last two people never even got their SP for voting because I could not see who they were as the list that showed everyone only said,"and two more".

So the past two week I have not been doing the steembattles that I originally set out to create twice a week. I would like to continue this but If I am going to be continuing this there definitely needs to be some changes in the future. After having these problems, I realized that I needed an automated program to help me accomplish the task of the payouts. This will save me time and the trouble of trying to find all the people who voted on the winning comment. Otherwise I don't think steembattles will survive.

Hiring somebody to build a script for steembattles

I am looking to hire somebody to build a script for me to help make the payouts for steembattles automated. Here are the things I would like the script to have built in:

  • Automatic payouts to all those who voted on the winning character Character you voted on Won, Thanks for playing
  • Send .001 steem for all those who voted on the losing character with a message like Character you voted on lost, Thanks for playing
  • Must have a rep of 25 or above
  • track and disqualify people who vote twice or vote and unvote to vote on something else
  • maybe some other stuff I forgot

Controversy surrounding vote betting

Gambling and vote betting hold a very interesting place in the crypto world. Some people support it whole heartily, while others are vehemently against it. It is of my belief that these games have their place for entertainment purposes and fun possibilities of rewards. Here on steemit the users have spoken (with their vote and comments) and it seems it is a desired thing that the steemit community wants to stay.

Since steemit is cryptocurrency mixed with social media, i feel adding these things to steemit is a very mixed bag. On the one hand it can create more user engagement for those who like gambling/betting games and want to earn some extra SP. On the other hand it ruins steemit as a informational news social media platform (like reddit) because of the domination on the news feed that these groups like create; Especially for those who don't care about betting games and the possible rewards.

When these groups are small it really is not that big of a deal. But as these groups start to grow like @steemsports, because of the man power of these group, they will almost always dominate the trending page; Which makes it look and feel like there are no place for single individuals to express themselves.

I feel it is absolutely necessary that steemit inc. create a new separatetabs that these games and groups go into, especially for the public image of steemit. Here are the extra tabs I feel should be added: votebet, Group projects. & resteems. Since it is hard to connect with the founders to change like this, I propose that we use the tag #seperatetabs to express this idea to them better. I feel making these changes will reach out to a larger audience by separating things into categories better.

Feedback wanted

If there is any Ideas, changes or critiques that you would like made I would love to hear them. I am really interested to hear your opinion on all this and what you wish to see in the future with steembattles. Thank you all again, I appreciate your input.

I'm all for gamification.

I like the idea - I'm curious if you can find someone to build and host a script for that ( and at what cost )

It's the first time, I've heard about steembattles - I will read more about it soon :) !

Haha thanks, grammar error corrected!

Yeah me too! Everyone loves a fun side game. That why so many people like FB games. I will find one, I know a few people that might be willing to help me.

Oh yeah, forgot to give past examples and link to my old steembattles. I've also added a few of my past steembattles games above. I will be making a new steembattles this Monday actually. Thanks for the feedback!

I believe separate tabs are coming...eventually.
I personally like the idea of having gamification for STEEM, but prefer to have something like that on a sister site. I would love to see separate tabs for tags like sports, gaming, art, poetry, science & nature, pets, parenting, reviews, etc. but also include an option to see it all like we do in the NEW tab
I think that would help with the appearance of being tidy and organized.
I haven't see SteemBattles in action so I'm looking forward to the next round.
And... I think if you had gone through Steemd.com, you would have seen who voted. It would be time consuming going through it all, but you would have eventually found your +2.

Hopefully, I feel it is waaay overdue.
Yes, I agree, yet that would need a lot to implement that much of a separation and I believe that will never happen.

Yes the tab options are necessary, i agree that there should be an All tab in the new section. I do think that the trending page should be modified because there's too many project over dominating the main trending page, which doesn't leave that much room for other.

Great, I plan on doing the next one on Monday. Hopefully I will find someone to help me built a script ASAP.

Wow, yeah that is a great Idea. I will go look now for that. I think I could possible still find it. Is there a way to identify my individual blog post to find voting on comments? because I am not sure that it shows the votes on the comment, I only know of it showing the votes on the main posts. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey dude, I appreciate you sending me steempower but it's not necessary. You had no idea what was going on. It's all good. Keep steemin on!

No, it is necessary. You won my last Steembattles that you placed your vote bet on. There is only two people that I wasn't able to payout yet @merej99 had a great idea to check steemd to see who those last two people who placed their vote bet were but your right it's all good, steem on! ^_^

The idea is really great, keep it up!

Thanks, You write for @steemsport, right? Do you know who built the script for the automatic payout? If I am to continue this I definitely will need this in my future games.

You have to ask @furion for this, I don´t know how to setup this script.

Awesome, I was just talking to him about something else. I will talk to him to see if he is willing to help, thanks.
