OBJECTIVE : social media apps primer for fb, twitter, snapchat and instagram to help understand public, privacy, trust, geolocation potential dangers and to be a bridge for conversations with your kids, teenagers (even adults!) about using social tools correctly!
i put this course here because i want it to exist on the steemit blog chain, i think it’s valuable for adults, teenagers and kids alike, if they have access to smartphones, devices, computers (they are affordable and everywhere these days) then spend 15 minutes going through the features, use this video as a crutch for conversations about public, privacy and geolocation, most of all keep safe, communicate safely, spread and learn.

i make most of my courses pretty snackable so you can jump in wherever you see the section link (they jump in time in the video) they mainly last a few minutes each maybe you only need five minutes to get to the information you need.
- 1.0 - this mini course is to help you as a parent ‘do the check’
- 1.1 - we will concentrate on four services (twitter, fb, insta, snapchat)
- 1.2 - snapchat, how to stay in control!
- 1.3 - instagram privacy and safety checks
- 1.4 - controlling facebook, some important settings
- 1.5 - finally twitter, privacy, unfollowing and deleting content
NOTE
i did not make this course to invade a persons (child, teenager even adult) privacy, i simply wanted to put together a thoughtful video so that you can have that open dialog about data in general, where it goes, who has access to it, geo located pictures and video and opening yourself up to the global viewer. my aim was to keep you aware and safe. i hope you can see the compassion in this video is ultimately about your safety.

also i realise that this does not cover 'all social apps' but the foundations of how these social apps are pretty much standard across other applications like kik, firechat, yo, meerkat, periscope, groupme, path, the list goes on. basically just really make sure you understand where that data is going, who can see it, when you post a geo post understand that people know you are at that location, great for digital loyality, maybe not so great for your safety, just be smart - check in when you leave, not when you arrive! :)
