Love and Affection

Today is Valentine!!!

Valentine is simply a name of a Priest which in recent time used to mean an expression of affection and love. It's true meaning is derived from what Mr. Valentine did; expressing love and affection. For this reason I want us to take some time to go through love and affection.

Affection is a strong feeling of love or attachment. It is when you are affected by love and able to minister the same to others. Thank God we have such a great example to learn from. Christ the son of God came to the earth and demonstrated such a great love to us so that we can imitate Him. This love flows from the Father through the Son to us, and we having the same love are able to give to others.

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:2 that, "Be full of love for others, following the example of Christ who loved you and gave himself to God as a sacrifice to take away your sin. And God was pleased , for Christ's love for you was like sweet perfume to him." This means that we are suppose to walk in love as Christ by dying for us on the cross. The big question many people are quick to ask is, how can I love?

The way to loving others is not difficult as people suppose it to be. This is because the very qualities of love have been outlined in the Bible for us or else the very life of Christ alone is a true picture of love. What does the Scripture say?
Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice wrong when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him. 1Corinthians 13:3-7

Practicing all the behavior mentioned above shows we are walking in love. Let love rule you, love them unconditionally even Jesus told us to love our enemies. Be affected by the life of others , let the life of others be your concern. Do not be too quick to judge people, love them in all things.

Three things abide love, hope and faith but the greatest of it is love. Live in love even as we are celebrating Valentines day.
